Lillian's POV
It only takes a couple of minutes for the guy and I to get to my apartment, so we didn't talk. When we get inside I say, "Welcome to my not-so-humble abode."
"I like it. It's very home-y." The man comments, taking me by surprise. My apartment is not home-y at all. It's a small one bedroom apartment, so everything is connected. I've got a small couch and a TV -which is on a small stand- in the section of the apartment that I call the living room; there's a small two person table, a thin refrigerator, and a small stove and oven combo in the kitchen/dining room; and then I have a queen sized bed that takes up the rest of the space. And I obviously have a bathroom, but it's very small. I only have a few decorations; one is the last family picture with all of my family and the others are pictures of my brother and I, none of them recent.
"Oh." Is all I can manage to say.
"So what's your name?" The man asks.
"My name is Lillian." I answer then add, "Now that I think of it, we probably should've done the whole introducing thing at the gas station."
"Probably." The man laughs. I raise my eyebrows, hinting that I still don't know his name. "Oh, right. My name is Niall."
"Well, it's very nice to meet you, Niall. Would you like to watch a movie or something?" I say, trying to be polite and not say something about his name sounding familiar.
"Whatever you'd like, it is your home." Niall answers.
"We can watch a movie, then. You can go over there and pick a movie while I make some popcorn." I tell him, pointing at the stack of movies on the TV stand. I walk over the kitchen and grab a bag of popcorn out of one the cabinets and stick it in the microwave, not forgetting to start the microwave like I normally do.
Once the popcorn is done I put it in a bowl and walk back to Niall. "What movie did you choose?" I ask him.
"I can't choose between The Avengers and Dumbo." Niall says, showing me the two movie that he's holding in his hands.
"I seriously think that only you would have a hard time picking between those two." I laugh.
"Well, which one would you like to watch?" He asks me, ignoring my previous statement.
"The Avengers." I answer immediately. "I don't like Dumbo."
"How could you not like Dumbo?" Niall fake gasps.
"To be honest, that movie terrifies me, along with The Black Cauldron." I answer honestly.
"Why do you own it if you don't like it?" Niall asks.
"My aunt gave it to me. It's my mothers favorite movie from when she was a kid." I tell him.
"Your mother must have a very good taste in movies then." He says, putting the movie back in it's original spot.
"She did." I say, regretting it right after.
"What do you mean?" Niall asks, scrunching his eyebrows.
"Um, she just doesn't have a good taste in movies anymore." I say, trying to make my lie believable.
"Oh, okay." Niall shrugs. I don't think he believes me, but I'm thankful he's not pushing the topic. After that, I put in the movie and Niall and I sit on the couch.

AN: I'm sorry it's not that long or interesting. I think the first few chapters are going to be like this, just getting to know the characters and their lives better. I hope you all like this!
Why did Lillian lie about her mother? What do you think happened to her mother? Tell me in the comments below!
I'll dedicate the next chapter to anyone who comments, if anyone comments.
I love all of you!
