Lillian’s POV
Days pass and I hear nothing from Niall or any of his friends. It almost makes everything that happened seem like a dream. And it’s not that I want Niall to call or show up at the restaurant, and I wouldn’t be upset if it was all a dream, I’m just surprised is all. I tell Daisy of my thoughts as her and I get ready for our shift and she assures me that it was not a dream.
Of course I had to jinx myself, and later that day Liam shows up with a girl I’ve never met. And with my luck, they get seated in my section. Thankfully Daisy warns me before I go to the table, though. “I take a break for five minutes and someone screws up.” Daisy pouts after telling me what had happened. She had told me she went to take a short break, and the person who filled her spot ended up seating Liam and the girl in my section. Daisy wouldn’t normally feel this bad except for the fact that she’d promised that if any of the boys showed up she wouldn’t seat them in my section.
“There’s not much you could’ve done, Daisy.” I shrug my shoulders, and then reluctantly walk over to the table Liam is sitting at. I look over my shoulder quickly and see Daisy looking at me worriedly. I smile at her, and then turn my attention to the table that I’m nearing.
“Hi, my name is Lillian and I’ll be your waitress this afternoon.” I smile, hoping that Liam won’t recognize me. “Would you like anything to drink?”
“I’d like a sweet tea, please.” The girl tells me politely. I nod and write it down on my notepad, and then I look towards Liam. I can see he’s about to say something but then he looks up at me and immediately recognizes me.
“Lillian? I didn’t know you worked here.” Liam says in surprise.
“I’ve worked here for quite some time.” I say, not knowing what else I should do.
“You know her?” The girl questions, looking very confused.
Liam looks at her and says, “Yeah, she’s the, um, friend I was telling you about the other day.” I don’t know what worried me more; that he’s told someone about me, the look he has on his face, or the look of recognition the girl has on her face.
“Oh, it’s great to meet you.” She smiles at me. “I’m Makena, Liam’s girlfriend.” And now it’s my turn to be surprised and confused.
“Wow, girlfriend. That’s great to hear.”
“It’s a new thing.” Makena tells me.
“I can tell.” And with that I get Liam’s drink order and walk away.
After I get their drinks to them and get their food orders I go to put the orders in, and that’s when I can feel someone following me. “Yes, Liam?” I say, turning around.
“How’d you know it was me?” Liam asks.
“I just did.”
“Are you ever going to talk to him?” Liam blurts out, shocking me.
“If you’re speaking of Niall, then no, I won’t be talking to him anytime soon, if ever.” I huff, turning back around and continuing to go put the orders in.
“He needs you, Lily.” Liam starts to plead with me.
“If he needs me so much he would be the one telling me this, not you.” I shake my head, not wanting to speak of this. “And besides, last I checked he didn’t want me.” I quickly walk away, not listening to Liam calling out for me. I put in the orders and serve my other tables for the time being.
