I was standing outside the gates twirling my knife around, I could hear the chatter of everything going on behind me from the others talking amongst themselves. Everyone was taking turns talking to people back on the Ark, I was just waiting for mine.
"Saph." I hear turning my head to see Octavia nodding her head, I get up from my seat following her into camp seeing she was headed to the tent. She pushed it open for me and I smiled at her before walking in, I see the set up sitting on the chair in front of me.
Sitting across from me was a small TV with Joel sitting there, he somewhat looked older. He had a full grown beard now, I smiled as I spotted him his eyes landing on mine and offering me a sweet smile back.
"Hey kiddo. I miss seeing your face."
"I miss yours too. Trying something new?" I said referring to his scruff making him chuckle as he nods his head as his hand comes up instinctively.
"It's been a rough couple weeks." Joel says smiling at me before looking at me, "So, tell me everything. How are you doing?"
"I'm okay. It's not too bad, once you get used to all the people."
"We both know you're lying."
"I'm fine Joel."
"Saph, talk to me. Are you sleeping okay?"
"Well, I traded a comfy bed with a sick view for a bed made out of rubble from the dropship and parachutes which is also what our tent is made from. The food is better though." I said shrugging my shoulders making him laugh as he shakes his head, "How's everything on the Ark?"
"It's okay. We're all surviving."
"I saw the culling."
"Yeah, we lost a few good people that day. It was hard, but we do what we gotta do." He says and I nodded, I didn't care for any of them but I saw it hurt Joel so I kept my mouth shut.
"And how's Lola and May?" I asked him about his wife and kid, I had never met them but the way Joel spoke about Lola I knew he was in love. He had a twinkle in his eye every time he spoke about her and his daughter.
"She's good. There's actually someone I want you to meet." Joel says making me furrow my eyes before a brunette lady walked into view smiling at me holding a small child's hand.
"Hi Sapphire, it's nice to finally meet you." Lola says smiling at me and I smiled back at her nodding my head.
"Nice to finally meet you too, Joel speaks a lot about you."
"And he does about you. Thank you for keeping him on his toes, I know he enjoyed it." She says winking at me and I snickered making Joel roll his eyes.
"If I knew you two meeting would increase my blood pressure I wouldn't of."
"Maisie, this is Sapphire the little girl I tell you about. Can you say hi to Sapphire?" Joel says turning to his daughter picking her up placing her in his lap who smiles as she looks at me.
"Hi Saphy."
"Hi May, it's nice to finally meet you. Your dad has told me a lot about you. I hope you're getting into enough trouble for the both of us." I said smiling and she giggles putting her head on her dad's shoulder.
"Little troublemaker she is, really does remind me of you." Joel says making me laugh shaking my head.
"How old are you now May?'
"I'm four and a half." Maisie replies smiling at me with her toothy grin, I couldn't help the grin on my face realising she had Joel's smile.
"May, how about you tell Sapphire your name." Joel says looking down at his daughter winking at her making her nod as she turns to look at me.
