"so what took you so long to wake up? was the poro that fun to sleep with?" i ask the little guy i met yesterday as soon as he gets to the vending machines. now that i'm actually sober, i get to look at him clearly. his hair's all fucked up but in an adorable way. his eyes are all puffy. it seems as though he cried. he's still carrying around the plushie i got him.
he looks up at me after he takes a sip of the ramune soda he bought. he tilts his head to the right and smiles. "you don't look mean when you're kind of sober."
"what?" this takes me aback. did i say something to him yesterday that i don't remember?
"i think you look better this way," he says softly and walks away. i just watch as he returns to his tiny room.

now what am i going to do. what's the plan? i have way less than the little money i had yesterday. i don't know where to go right after this. i guess i could ask if they're hiring over here. i certainly need to get a job.
i come out of my room once again. the drunk dude from yesterday isn't here anymore. that was fast. he was just standing by the vending machines earlier.
i head to the front desk and realize the lady from yesterday is still here. her shift hasn't ended yet? but it's already way past afternoon.
"hey, how may i help you?" she asks.
"hey, uh..." i look at her name tag. "lisa, i was wondering if you guys are hiring?"
"no, we are not. did you not have any plans before running away?"
"i'm sorry?"
"oh, don't worry. we get runaways here all the time. and you certainly look like one. barely any luggage. you looked super stressed, unlike the annoying drunks we get here every now and then. those are obvious."
"obvious?"
"it's obvious that they live here or else they'd be a bit more scared to get drunk all by themselves in a town they know nothing about."
"you make it sound like this town's terrifying," i get startled by the a familiar voice behind me. i turn to see it's jungkook.
lisa smirks at jungkook. "anyone who truly knows haro town would also know that it is the worst place for visitors. sure, it's a dead city because people are always inside. but have you asked yourself at all, since you've gotten here, why most people lock themselves indoors unless they truly have to go to work?"
"i have no idea what you're getting at," jungkook laughs.
"me neither," i add.
"a lot of people go missing here. funnily enough, missing people from others town come here only to be killed. you know there's hundreds of people in this gigantic cyber shop right now. but they are all visitors. some of them are just as clueless as the both of you. but most of them are here because they don't care that there's serial killers roaming around the city."
"why wouldn't they care if they knew all that?" i ask.
"because most of them are the killers. and also, some of them just want to die."
