Alec opened his eyes. He was standing in front of a wooden door. He had his bow in hand, and his quiver on his back. He was wearing his gear, so he was going to battle demons.

Alec blinked a bit confused, and turned. He was in the Institute's office, he was sure of it. There was where Robert and Maryse had told him all those homophobic things.

The Shadowhunter shivered, thinking of that.

What was he doing in the Institute? He had left from there, five years ago.

Alec opened the door and got out of the room. He found himself facing a blond boy with golden eyes and hair, who he knew way too much.

"Come on, Alec. What took you so long? We're all waiting for you! We need to go..." Jace patted his shoulder and walked fast through the corridor.

Alec felt his head hurting. What was he doing in the Institute? And, why had Jace treated him good?

"Alec!" Jace shouted, from the end of the corridor. "Are you okay?"

Alec looked at him, and slowly nodded, trying not to act awkwardly. "Ye-yeah... Of course. C-coming!"

The Shadowhunter with blue eyes shook his head, took a deep breath and followed Jace. It all felt weird, but natural at the same time, as if he already knew what he had to do.

They arrived at the hallway, where Alec saw, at least, 50 Shadowhunters ready, with their weapons, waiting for him.

A girl with long black hair ran to him; she looked angry.

"Alexander Gideon Lightwood! What the hell took you that long, big bro?"

Alec put a hand on his forehead, trying to know if he was sick or not, and then he pinched his arm, trying to know if he was dreaming or not; he wasn't, because the pinch hurt, and left a small mark on his arm, where he had pinched himself.

"Alec, are you okay?" Isabelle asked, worriedly.

Jace shook his head a bit. "I asked him the same, but he told me he's fine, but I still think you're not fine..." Jace placed his hand on Alec's shoulder, who flinched at his parabatai's touch. "I think you should stay here, while we are battling... You don't look too well, and we don't want you to get hurt because of a small distraction..."

Battling? Thought Alec. 50 Shadowhunters to go battling? Against what were they going to battle, that needed 50 Shadowhunters?

Alec felt he needed to go to that battle, yet he didn't know the reason why, because he didn't even know what they were going to battle.

He shook his head. "I'm okay. I can go battle," He said, and added, "Seriously." When he saw Jace's face.

The Shadowhunter with golden eyes took a deep breath, bit his lip and nodded, slowly. "Well, I can't decide that for you, because technically I should be the one who's following orders... Right, Mr. Head of the Institute?" Alec noticed, every time Jace looked at him, how his golden eyes sparkled with happiness, a thing they never did, as far as Alec remembered, when he still lived in the Institute.

Did Jace just say, Mr. Head of the Institute to him? Jace's tone wasn't a joking one, so he meant what he said.

Alec took some deep breathes, trying to act normal, and smiled while he nodded. "Yes, of course... Let's go..." Alec walked in front of the Shadowhunters who were waiting for his orders.

Wait... His? Yes. He was the Head of the New York Institute, so they were all following his orders.

Alec shook his head, "Okay, let's go!" He said, before opening the door and exiting the Institute with everyone behind him, following him.
