"Get up! Come on, get up, you lovebirds!"

Alec immediately opened his eyes, panicking.

He had had a nightmare, in which he still lived in the Institute, and his parents called him to their office, to scold him because Jace had told them that on the last mission they had been sent to, Alec, instead of killing the rogue Downworlders, had decided to take them to the Gard, where they would be in a cell for the rest of their lives.

Robert and Maryse had screamed at him, and even hit him, so now that yelling was just making him go back into his past, when Robert and Maryse had scolded him.

The one who had yelled was a man for sure. Alec wasn't sure if he was more scared of Robert than Maryse, to be honest. The yell had seemed to come from behind him, so Alec was not going to turn, and face his father.

Alec lifted a bit his head and saw Magnus opening his cat eyes, blinking sleepily.

Magnus looked down at Alec after looking up at Ragnor, annoyingly. He ignored him, and his yelling, looking down at the blue-eyed boy. He saw Alec was panicking.

The Shadowhunter was whining low, at the same time he intertwined his hands together, sinking his nails to his hands, hurting himself. He was trying to forget about his father standing behind him. Alec closed his eyes when he felt tears streaming down his face, just by thinking about the fact that his father was there to hurt him again, because he had caught him cuddling with another man, whether it was physical or mentally.

Alec felt a couple of hands, taking softly his own hands, which had started shaking uncontrollably, at the moment they had parted away from each other.

The Shadowhunter's stomach clenched, realizing just how hurt he would get, if his father saw Magnus, who was a man and a Warlock, taking his hands in his. A man and a Warlock. A Downworlder, a filthy and useless Downworlder, in his parents' eyes.

And now he would watch how Magnus consoled him.

Magnus took Alec's hands in his, when he saw them tangled together, hurting himself, again. He also saw Alec had his eyes closed, crying.

The cat-eyed boy glared at Ragnor, who was standing in front of the sofa, behind Alec, with his arms crossed on his chest. He was watching Magnus and Alec, silently.

Magnus pressed Alec against him, softly.

"Please, d-don't... M-M-Magnus... P-Please, d-do-don't let hi-him h-h-hu-hurt m-me a-a-a-again... Please..." Alec muttered, between low sobs.

He had started to sob, when he had felt Magnus' arm around him, protecting him, and pressing him onto his body.

Ragnor was watching the couple in silence. He watched how Alec sobbed on the cat-eyed Warlock's chest, and how Magnus hugged him tightly. He felt a bit guilty for having screamed at them, while they slept. Magnus had already told him to be careful with the way he spoke to Alec, but seeing them happily asleep together on the sofa, for some reason had made him forget that.

He was happy that Magnus had finally found someone he seemed to be happy with, even if they were just friends. And now, the Shadowhunter was crying because of him, while Magnus hugged him.

Ragnor saw how Magnus glared at him, and he bit his lip feeling guiltier. He heard the Shadowhunter talking to Magnus, but he couldn't quite understand what he was saying, to the Warlock with cat eyes.

"P-Please, Ma-Magnus... I-I-I don't w-want t-to-to g-get hurt again..." Alec muttered between sobs.

Magnus wasn't sure why Alec thought he would get hurt, but he decided not to say anything about it. He simply hugged Alec tighter against his body.
