"So you're telling me we don't even know where she is?" Sana's voice buzzed against the walls of the hospital's corridors.
Sana and Mina walked side by side, eyes scanning all room numbers in search of Chaeyoung's. At this point, she was the only one that could explain what happened.
"Exactly," Mina sighed "And we don't know about Dahyun either."
"This is fucked up." Sana whined, tugging on her blonde locks.
The floor Izumi had sent the two wasn't crowded, unlike the rest of the hospital. It was very quiet, only the beeping of the machines and Sana's whimpers could be clearly heard.
"Is she alone?" Sana asked, hands behind her back as she walked slower.
"Chaeyoung? I think she's in the room with someone else," the brunette replied "Why?"
"I was thinking, we shouldn't bombard her with questions right away," Sana spoke her mind "I will give you two some time and when she's feeling comfortable we can talk. It must be a lot for her."
The blonde's voice was getting lower and lower as the words spilled from her lips, she was facing the floor and her posture was poor. Her smile and bubbly attitude were nowhere to be found as she walked soundlessly.
"Thank you," Mina smiled as she offered Sana a squeeze on the shoulder "We're here."
Room 405.
At first Mina hesitated, freezing mid-step while looking back at Sana. The blonde was resting her back against the wall, mind probably spinning in search of a logical explanation as to where her girlfriend could be. Mina didn't know why she suddenly felt like crying and screaming. Maybe it was the fact that all information and events had started to sink in. Maybe it was because she knew her girlfriend was in pain, her friends were nowhere to be found and Momo..
Momo risked her life to get out, clearing the exit for their father. The man neither of them really appreciated anymore. Or that's what Mina thought.
"Go in," Sana smiled bitterly "One of us has to be relieved in this mess."
A mess indeed. A mess no one would be able to untangle themselves from any time soon and it was, in all honesty, starting to feel like Mina's worst nightmare. An event that would weigh not only her, but her friends, down. Like a heavy school bag you aren't used in wearing yet after a long summer break. It was starting to get suffocating,
And it was only the beginning.
"Mina?" Chaeyoung whispered when she saw the brunette walking in, shoulders hung low as she didn't dare to look at the blonde.
"Hi." she stood by the door, heart sounding louder than her words.
"How did you get here?" the younger had a smile on her face, but Mina didn't know. She was scared to face Chaeyoung for no apparent reason.
Well, not really.
She just didn't want to see something she wasn't ready for. Something that could potentially break her heart and haunt her forever. That being, Chaeyoung in pain. Chaeyoung being hurt.
"It took a lot of convincing," the brunette replied "And blackmailing." she whispered the last part and played with ends of her hair.
"Mina-yah, look at me." Chaeyoung's voice got louder, but it was still evident talking was painful for her.
Could Mina say no? She slowly raised her head and locked eyes with Chaeyoung, letting out a shaky breath when spotting the tubes connected to her nose.
Even after getting trapped inside a burning building and almost dying, Chaeyoung somehow managed to look calm and very pretty. Although, Mina knew this wasn't the time to be thinking of her breathtaking beauty.
"Are you here alone?" she asked, trying to make out who the mysterious figure waiting outside the room was.
"No, I'm with Sana," Mina whispered when she spotted a second figure in the room, their back turned on the pair as they laid on the hospital bed "She has been going crazy."
"Why?" Chaeyoung brows furrowed, clearing her throat.
"Someone didn't make it, Chae," Mina replied, Chaeyoung's shock taking her aback "We saw all of you getting in the ambulances but lost track of Jihyo."
The blonde's expression softened as she nodded at Mina's words, coughing slightly "I was a little bit drowsy when they were getting us out."
"It's okay, babe." the brunette smiled sadly, moving to hold her hand and thinking of a way to tell her the news.
"You should go home and rest, it has been a long day." Chaeyoung stretched her body to peck Mina's lips.
"Chaeyoung-ah, I need to tell you something," Mina cut her off as she ran her fingers through the girl's hair softly "It has to do with J--"
"Ah, babe, wait!" the blonde spoke "Tell Sana to come in. I feel bad she's standing out all alone." she pouted.
"I will, but--"
"Bring her in." a raspy, barely audible voice sounded and the figure laying on the bed turned around.
