"Im Nayeon?" Mina asked, squeezing Chaeyoung's hand.

"The one and only," Momo lowered her voice "I'm her emergency contact. They had a hard time identifying her and they called me in."

Nayeon was not only Momo's friend. She was like a sister to her, the girl that persuaded her in following her passion for dance. Nayeon knew Momo for a very long time, but they weren't close until the latter's first job when she turned fourteen.

Momo worked at the coffee shop owned by Nayeon's mother. The older knew about the financial struggles of her family and would always sneak a lot more bucks in her salary than she was supposed to get. Neither her mother nor Momo knew and Nayeon had to work double shifts to be able to keep some money for herself. The older wanted her to go to college, she wanted to see Momo succeed one day and be happy.

So they became close quickly and promised to help each other out during hard times, even if fighting regularly.

However, Momo didn't help Nayeon today.

And now she was dead.

"Fuck," Mina knew the girl through Momo, she would always tag along on their friendly outings and from their first time meeting, Mina loved Nayeon. She was different, loud, and funny. Nayeon was what the quiet pair needed, something different. "I'm sorry, Momo."

"We need to tell Jeongyeon," Momo said, leaning her head against the door frame "She's out of town."

No one wanted to put themselves in Jeongyeon's shoes. The girl had to deal with the love of her life leaving so suddenly without even saying goodbye.

"And Jihyo's ring?" Sana asked "Does anyone want to explain what happened?"

Jihyo sighed, taking off her oxygen mask and signaling to Momo to get in the room. Sana offered her seat to the brunette and later sat beside Jihyo on the bed, holding her hand softly and examining the burns.

"Nayeon is--was an art nerd," she spoke "Closeted. She came in the concert hall admiring Chaeyoung's pieces and we started a conversation."

"Really?" Momo didn't know.

"Yeah, she said something about 'lawyers don't do art, my circle would make fun of me' and later proceeded to change the subject. She came early because she didn't want anyone from her class seeing her there." Jihyo said and laid her head on Sana's shoulder, her breath getting short.

"And how did she end up with the ring?" Mina asked, eyes fixated on Momo. The girl sat quiet, looking at her feet as she shook her head.

"She saw it on my finger and said it was very beautiful. I later explained that Chaeyoung made it and there was another one matching to it and then we started talking about Sana," Jihyo explained "She even told me she would have to get Chae to make some for her and her girlfriend."

The last words made Momo to cry, face buried in her quivering hands as she bit on her lower lip, attempting to not make a sound.

"She held it and then the fire started," Jihyo continued "Everyone spread around but we stuck together and she told me she will hand me the ring once we safely got out of the hall..together." her voice broke.

Mina sighed, hesitantly moving towards Momo and placing a hand on her back. The older looked up but didn't flinch or move away. The girls looked at each other for a while before breaking eye contact, silently agreeing on taking a walk later.

"And what about Dahyun?" Sana asked again.

"They won't let us visit her or at least know if she's okay." Mina added.

At that, both Jihyo and Chaeyoung laughed. It wasn't a laugh you would typically hear when someone made a funny comment. It wasn't a bitter one either. Their laughter sounded more like they were teasing the rest of the girls, it was ironic.

"And you won't be seeing her until she gets out of the hospital." Jihyo stated matter-of-factly.

"That's not fair." Momo mumbled.

"Yes, but that's what the Highness wants." Chaeyoung laughed again, glancing at Jihyo.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Sana stood up.

"Nothing." Chaeyoung shrugged and laid on her bed, eyes closing.

"It's not really our story to tell," Jihyo did the same "So if you don't mind.." she pointed over at the door.

"Are you serious?" Sana groaned, patting the brunette's head before moving to the exit "When I get here again you better not act weird."

Sana was the only one talking, both Momo and Mina had wished for a quick recovery and had left the room with the latter spending a few more seconds to kiss her girlfriend's forehead and then join Momo.

"It's been a tiring day, babe. Go sleep." Jihyo smiled and watched the pouty Sana walk out of the room, closing the door behind her.

Chaeyoung turned to Jihyo "Should we try reaching out to her?" she questioned.

"You know they won't let us, Chae," the woman replied "The same thing happened when the scandal with Jaegyu blew up."

"I'm so fucking tired of them," Chaeyoung whined "Always controlling her life."

"It's for her own good if we let them be, you know what happens when you get into their way." the older tried knocking some sense into the younger's head.

"We're her friends, we're standing up for her all those years!" the blonde raised her voice "Aren't they used to us? They know we would never do anything to hurt her."

Jihyo kept quiet for a while, letting her head fall back on the pillow of the hospital bed as she shifted her position into a more comfortable one.

"The problem isn't us, is the life Dahyun fought so hard to get away from," she spoke "And now, after this whole thing, I'm afraid she will have to fight more."
