Chapter 7

Rhianna's POV
It was 7:30 am. I just got up and I got excited because I would be seeing Shawn again today. What should I wear? I thought. I pulled a purple dress out of my suitcase and decided I would wear that. Then I went in the bathroom and put on some makeup to look beautiful. I never wore makeup but I wanted to be pretty for Shawn. I'm ugly and makeup makes me look prettier or so I thought.
"Rhi what's taking so long? I gotta pee." Erik said.
"I'll be out in a minute." I replied.
I finished my makeup as quickly as I could. I walked out of the bathroom so my friend could pee. My friends looked at me funny.
"Rhianna what's all the makeup for?" Kira asked.
"I wanted to look beautiful for Shawn and I don't have natural beauty so I wanted to try to be pretty for him." I said.
"Rhi you don't need that to be beautiful. When Shawn saw you the other day he saw the real you." Erik said.
"Yes and I was ugly then." I said.
"No! Rhi you're not ugly! You're beautiful inside and out and if Shawn can't see that then screw him!" Erik said.
"It's Shawn Peter Raul Mendes we are talking about. I can't just "screw him" because I love him too much. I want to be pretty for him." I said.
"He's gonna tell you the same thing Rhi. He's gonna tell you to wash that shit off your face because you're beautiful without it." Erik said.
I was getting annoyed with Erik telling me this stuff. He's a guy. What does he know. I knew he was just telling me this stuff to make me feel better.
"Look Erik you're like a brother to me and I'm not saying this to be rude but please stop telling me lies to make me feel better. It doesn't help. I still feel ugly." I said.
"I'm not lying Rhi I'm telling the truth. And I'm sorry you feel that way about your self. It makes me sad. I wish I could help but nothing I do works anymore. I'm such a bad friend." Erik said.
"No you're not bro. You're a great friend. And I don't think anyone can help because it's  my anxiety. I appreciate you trying to help at least." I said as I hugged him.
I finished getting ready and we left and went to America Needs Talent for the morning to meet our celebrity mentors and to rehearse before tonight's round. I was both excited and nervous to see Shawn again.
"Good morning contestants. Hope you all had a good nights sleep. We are adding a twist to tonight's round. You and your celebrity mentor must sing a duet together. Your celeb mentors will be waiting for you in your dressing rooms. Good luck contestants." Bob the announcer said.
I squealed. My dreams of singing with Shawn were  finally coming true. I walked to my dressing room to meet Shawn.
"Are you nervous Rhi?" Kira asked.
"Yes very but I'm excited to see him again." I said.
I opened the door to my dressing room.
"Hello Rhianna it's so good to see you again." Shawn said as he ran to hug me.
"It's nice to see you again too Shawn." I said while giving him the biggest hug ever.
"Rhi you look different." Shawn said.
"Is that a bad thing?" I asked him.
"No, I just mean you look better without makeup on. I love you just the way you are Rhi. You never have to try to impress me ok. Because I love you for you. Remember that ok sweetie." Shawn said.
I couldn't believe it. Erik was actually right. Shawn thought I was beautiful just the way I am.
"I'll wash it off then love muffin. And thanks love it means a lot coming from you. I've always thought I was ugly until I met you." I said.
"That's so sad Rhi. I hope I can make your life better." Shawn said.
"You always have Shawn with your music and just by existing and I can't believe I actually get to sing with you tonight. It's been a dream of mine for a long time. I've looked up to you since your vine days. You've always been the person I think most about since I saw you and heard you sing for the first time. You're my rock and my idol and I'll always love you for making my life better." I said.
"Aww you're too sweet Rhi. I'm glad I could make your life better. And it's an honor to sing with you tonight." Shawn said while smiling the biggest smile that I've ever seen him smile before.
"So what are we gonna sing together Shawn?" I asked.
"I kinda thought we should sing my song Like To Be You." Shawn said.
"That sounds great!" I said.
"But before we rehearse I wanna take you and show you something." Shawn said.
"Ok love." I said.
I followed Shawn to a taxi cab. We rode it to the Empire State Building.
"Shawn you know I'm afraid of heights." I said.
"Yes but I need to show you this." Shawn said.
We took the elevator to the top floor and Shawn stood on the balcony that overlooked all of New York City. I was hesitant to go outside because I was scared of heights.
"Come on baby. I know you're scared but I'll be with you and I won't let anything happen to you." Shawn said.
I went outside and joined him.
"You see this view Rhi. This is what I wanted to show you. You see how beautiful it is?" Shawn asked me.
"Yes it's breathtaking love." I said.
"Well there's only one thing that's more beautiful than this view and that's you Rhi. Rhi ever since I met you on that plane I couldn't get you off of my mind. I knew I needed you and that you needed me. And that's why I wanted to ask you right here and now to be my girlfriend." Shawn said.
"Yes Shawn I'd be honored to be your girlfriend. I love you so much love muffin." I said with happy tears running down my cheeks.
"I love you too Rhi. I really do." Shawn said.
We took some pictures and went back outside to catch a taxi to go back to America Needs Talent. When we got back I saw my friends. I couldn't wait to tell them what just happened.
"Guys you won't believe what just happened!" I screamed.
"What happened Rhi?" Kira asked.
"Yes tell us." Erik said.
"Shawn just took me to see a view of New York City and asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes!" I said excitedly.
"Omg Rhi that's great." Kira said.
"I'm so happy for you Rhi." Erik said.
"Oh and Erik you were right about the makeup. Shawn said I am beautiful just the way I am. I hope you aren't still mad about our fight this morning." I said.
"I told you Rhi. And no I'm not still mad. I can't stay mad at you for very long sis." Erik said.
"You coming love?" Shawn asked.
"Yes dear. Bye guys I'll see you tonight." I said.
"Good luck tonight Rhi." My friends yelled at the same time.
"Thanks y'all."  I said.
I was so happy right now. I had the bestest friends in the world and now I had the best boyfriend in the world. Life was great. I walked to my dressing room where Shawn was patiently waiting for me.
"Ready to rehearse my love?" Shawn asked.
"I am if you are love." I said.
We rehearsed until 5:00. An hour before we had to be back in the auditorium.
"Want something to eat honey?" Shawn asked.
"I'll just take a pickle. I'm not too hungry." I said.
"You love pickles as much as I love muffins." Shawn said.
Shawn grabbed a muffin to eat and grabbed me a pickle out of the mini fridge for me to eat. We both ate our food. When we finished we made our way to the auditorium.
"Are you nervous love?" Shawn asked me.
"Yes sweetheart but I know I'll be fine because I'll have you on stage singing with me." I told him.
"I love you Rhi." Shawn said.
"I love you too Shawn." I said.
We kissed each other. We waited for Bob the announcer to start the show.
"Welcome to round 2 of America Needs Talent. Tonight our contestants have celebrity mentors to help train them. We also asked them to sing a duet with each other. Voting will be open all throughout the show and 3 contestants will sadly be leaving us tonight. Good luck guys." Bob the announcer said.
"First up is Shawn Mendes and Rhianna singing Like to be You from his self titled third album Shawn Mendes." Bob the announcer said.
All of a sudden I got nervous because I didn't know we were supposed to be opening the show. Shawn must have noticed because he looked at me and smiled to encourage me. I saw Erik and Kira in the audience cheering me on too. Ok Rhianna you can do this I told myself. We sang our song and when we were done everyone cheered except Margo who booed.
"You did such an amazing job sweetheart." Shawn said.
"Thanks love. You did amazing too." I said.
We sat down and watched the other contestants. When all of the other contestants were done performing there was a 5 minute break to allow America to get their final votes in.
"Don't worry sweetie you got this. My Mendes Army will pull through for you and vote I promise." Shawn said.
"And so will my Rhiannanators." I said.
"Cute fandom name." Shawn said.
"Thanks made it up myself." I said.
"Now it's time to announce the 4 contestants that will be moving on in the competition to the final round. The first contestant moving on to the final round is Rhianna. The second is Margo." Bob the announcer said. I heard Erik grown when Margo's name was called. Bob went on to call 2 more names.
"Congrats to these 4 contestants. They will be competing in the final round tomorrow. Be sure to tune in. Goodnight America." Bob the announcer said.
"I'm so proud of you babe." Shawn said.
"I couldn't have done it without you love." I said.
"Rhi you did amazing." Erik said.
"We are both so proud of you." Kira said.
"Thanks guys." I said.
"Hi guys." Shawn said.
"I hear you and Rhi are dating now." Kira said.
"Yep she's my girl." Shawn said.
"You chose wisely." Erik said.
"Yep. I love her so much." Shawn said.
"Rhi I wanted to ask you something. Shawn said.
"What's that love." I asked.
"If you win the competition tomorrow. Which I know you will. Will you be my opening act for my world tour? That way we wouldn't have to be away from each other. We could see each other everyday. And my Mendes army already loves you." Shawn asked me.
"Of course I will love." I said.
"And one more question babe. Will you go to the Met Gala with me? I haven't got anyone to go with and I don't wanna go by myself." Shawn asked me.
"It was so sad seeing you go to the Met Gala by yourself last year. But I'm not a big star and well I won't fit in there love. I would love to go with you but the big stars just won't like me. I said.
"Don't be afraid Rhi. You'll be with me and who cares if they don't like you love? I love you and that's all that matters. Screw what the others think of you. You'll fit in because you'll be going with me and you'll fit in with me and that's all that matters sweetheart." Shawn said.
"Ok then I'll go with you." I said.
"Goodnight my love. I'll see you tomorrow." Shawn said.
"Goodnight love muffin. I already miss you." I said.
We kissed.
Me and my friends drove back to our hotel. I went to bed the happiest girl in the world. And nothing was going to ruin it for me.
Margo's POV
Rhianna's still in this competition? How? I asked myself. I have to get rid of her once and for all. I know just how I'll do it. MWAHAHAHA!
