Kristina's PoV
"Then it went to when I managed to dodge out of the way barely of the bullet and smashed the window and diving for the ground but this time you didn't catch me and when I hit the floor I woke up. It's the same memory again."
"No that isn't a memory Sage, that's a nightmare where you died. What's the actual memory." I sigh as I am talking with Eric once again at the usual café. I stare down at my cup of coffee as Eric continue to stare at me with pity. Pity, it's been 5 years, but I'm still not used to these pathetic emotions that people usually face. I'm used to being feared and obedience, not happiness and feeling the fear. Feeling fear is definitely one thing I will never get used to, especially in the nightmares.
"Sage you've zoned out again." I rubbed my face with my hand, combing my hand through my short locks of black mixed with blue tinted hair. Within the years I've had to change my appearance. Cutting my hair short into half shoulder length other half just barely passing my ear and a fringe that covers my left eye. I wear contacts that change the colour of my eyes from a marine blue to a muddy brown pigment. Phoenix went smoothly. The part of my dream didn't show was that Eric was in the building a couple floors below. That was probably the only thing Lucio had no idea with, which was fortunate for the both of us. Quickly throwing out a nearby body, we managed to convince the world that I had died, and Sage was born. I am now an ordinary woman who owns her own café that we currently sit in which I finished my final shift two hours ago and the cafe is closed.
"You still thinking about that night."
"How can I not, it haunts me every night and I did nothing to save Jamie."
"You did what you could, anyone else who have gotten themselves killed but here you are alive and well. We'll get your revenge one day, but we can't risk you being exposed after hiding for so long." I nod and drink the rest of my coffee before standing grabbing his empty espresso cup to make us another cup.
"Anyways enough of this for one day, how's your life going. Any lucky men yet?" He chuckled as I wiggled my eyebrows at him and he shook his head.
"Not really have a date at the end of this month with a fit lad but I doubt it'll go anywhere. All muscles but no brain."
"Well maybe for one night you could use his strongest one."This cracked him.
Eric burst out laughing clutching his stomach at my comment while I continued to hold my blank face like I hadn't said anything. Walking over I set out cups down while he gasped for air to replace the lost ones.
"I can't believe you said that and with a straight face." He wiped a non-existent tear from his eye then cooled down. For a few moments we sat in satisfying silence and I closed my eye to take a deep breath in.
"You sure you're fine?" annoyed by the repeating question I let out a loud grunt before slamming my head on the table.
"Yes I'm fine. It's just a nightmare that keeps me up at night. I've dealt with worse. Now what was that other thing you mentioned on the phone. This surprise." his eyes widened for a split second before relaxing. He scratched the back of his neck and his cheeks became slightly red.
"I should have known you'd remember but anyways umm... While I was on the dating website I umm. Might have set you up and got you a date." This time it went silent, but the atmosphere grew thick and I slowly let what he said sink in.
"What?!" He jumped back and help his hands up in surrender,
"You've been alone ever since I've met you and I thought now your 'normal' I'd thought you'd find someone, but you haven't so I'm giving you a lending hand."
"So you set me up with a person I have no idea about." I pinched the bridge of my nose and sat back in my chair slouching slightly.
"Yep that's exactly what I did... Now looking back at it, this might have not been the best of ideas."
"You think? Look can't you call it off or something."
"No even though you're against this I think it'll be good for you. I'll do anything for you in return." I lifted an eyebrow as he placed both hands together to beg. I took a second to think and drink about my response. A devilish smirk plastered my face which I knew made Eric uneasy.
"I'll go, if you hook up my house with all the latest gadgets and weapons."
"I thought you said your giving up that line of work!" I crossed my arms looking away from him.
"I am, I wanted a room for gaming and you know all that and the best technology for that. Plus, if I'm wanting to get revenge I'll need weapons to train with and eventually torture him with. If I have anyone normal come around, I'll have to hide them somewhere without stuffing them in the cupboard or kitchen draws claiming their 'massive kitchen knives'."
He seemed to think for a while before letting out a load sigh and nodding.
"Fine I'll do that and for a bonus I'll pay for everything. Just go on this date and enjoy yourself."
"yay fun..." the sarcasm dripped from my tongue, but Eric only laughed and for the rest of the night we drank coffee a dialled about our new lives until we parted ways for the night.
