~~~~~~~~☆~~~~~~~~~~~~☆~~~~~~~~~My name is Ophelia. I am a normal 17 year old girl. And I used to have cancer.
More specifically I used to have a carcinic tumor in my brain. I got surgery when I was 10 to remove the majority of the tumor. The pressure in my brain lessened but during surgery the surgeon performing it sneezed. In my brain.
Gross right?
And as if that was not bad enough his hand slipped and he ruined my right eye and I can not see properly from it now.
My parents were not pleased...
I was fine with it. I figured I could wear an eyepatch and scare little children pretending I was a pirate. Wrong! Of what use would an eyepatch be in my case? None.
Gosh! Ten year olds are stupid!
For seven years it seemed that I would be fine. My tumor was "asleep" and I lived my best life. With one fully functional eye. At least one of the two worked fine. Good thing I had a spare!
Today I came back to the hospital for a checkup. My tumor seems to have dissapeared completely. The doctors cannot explain it.
I should be happy. But that is not all the news. The evil abnormal shells in my body striked again. The tumor cells metastasized first on my chest about a month ago.
I knew that, but today the tests showed something new.
And this time it is my lungs.
Do you know what percentage of people with lung cancer die?
Almost 90%.
And as if that wasn't great enough, metastasis places a cancer in Stage IV (4). The possibilities of curative treatment are greatly reduced, or often entirely removed, when a cancer has metastasized.
You could say the odds are not in my favor on this one.
But then again. When where they?
