Sometimes I wonder if you regret the distance you've put between us
I wonder if you've ever felt pain the way that I did
Cried the same amount of tears that I did
Wished for us to be closer the way that I did
Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if we weren't related
Not being bound by the obligation to love each other, being total strangers
Maybe you'd treat me better
Maybe us being family is what allows you to keep hurting me as much as you'd like because you know I'd still be there waiting for you to love me
Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if you loved me
Never feeling the sharp sting of your harsh words
Never having the warmth sucked out of my heart leaving me feeling cold and empty
Getting to feel your warm embrace without questioning the sincerity of it
Knowing what it is to truly feel your love
Sometimes, I wish we had never met.
