The next few days are a living hell for me

The next few days are a living hell for me.
I swear, living hell.

After the funeral, word got out very very quickly that former CEO of Anderson Tech: Ace Anderson was married to Alexandra Grace-Anderson.

Very. Very. Quickly

It was a shock to everyone and the fucking press wouldn't leave me alone. I was headlining EVERYWHERE!
I hated it
I was on the front page of magazines, the newest news for talk shows and every time I turned the tv or radio on, I heard my name.

I was never told this would happen when I agreed to "marry" Ace. This was crazy!

I hated it. So much.

I wasn't able to leave the house for such a long time because it was crazy with the paparazzi wanting to take pics of me.

After a couple weeks, it eventually died down. I was able to leave the house but I needed security because their still would be a few crazy people around

Today, I've decided to go back to work at the hospital. Doing nothing at home isn't going to get me anywhere and I as sure hell don't wanna go crazy.

I called the hospital a few days ago and told them of the situation, (even though they already knew cuz like, it's been on the news...)
But they agreed to accept me back into my old position there at the hospital.

Today was my first day back. I change into my beautiful scrubs. Oh how I missed you scrubs. I pull my hair up into a ponytail and grab my bag

"I've packed your lunch for work dear" Molly says giving me the container of food. I put it into my bag

"Thank you Molly" I say and give her a kiss on the cheek

"Now remember to call and let me know how your first day is going" she tells me

"Yes yes I'll call" I say with a smile

"Are you sure you still want to go to work? Sweetie there really is no need" she says

"Molly, I need to go to work. I'm just doing what I love doing" I say and give her one last smile before leaving the door

I walk down the steps in front of the house and open the door to the black SUV. I get into the car in the back and close the door

"Morning Gary" I chirp

"Good Morning dear, are you ready for your first day back?" He asks with a smile looking back at me through the rear mirror

I honestly had grown so close with Molly and Gary these past few weeks. They were very kind to me and they felt like the mother and father I never had.

"Yup" I say popping the p

We drive in peace and silence and occasionally make small talk until I see the beautiful city come into view

"Oh how I've missed you Manhattan" I say looking out the window

"It'll always be a beautiful city" Gary says

He comes to a stop in-front of the hospital I had been calling home for a few years

"I'll be here to pick you up at 4pm. If anything changes, just let me know" he says turning towards me

"Alrighty, thank you so much Gary" I say opening the door

"Have fun kiddo, stay safe" he says before I close the car door and head into the building

I walk in and I'm hit with that hospital scent. Oh it's good to be back

Walking into the elevator, I press the 6th floor and make my way to the recovery level where people are recovering after procedures and surgeries. That's where I worked most of the time

I had to meet with Trisha my manager first before starting my shift. Trisha also had given me the job opportunity to work for Ace a month ago. So I walk to the end of the corridor and knock on her door before entering

"Trishaaaa" I call out with a smile and see her sitting at her desk

"Oh look who it is" She chirps putting down the paperwork she had in her hands

"Girl I sent you away for a month and you manage to get married and become a widow all in one. How the hell?" She says

A small smile forms on my lips
"oh you heard?" I ask while cringing

"Duh! Girl your pretty little face has been the only thing on my tv these past couple weeks!" She yells

"Come here" I say with a smile and pull her in for a hug

Trisha is a good friend of mine at work. She has been working at the hospital for far more longer than I have but she was the one who trained me when I first started working here.

"It's good to see you Trisha" I say pulling out of the hug

She looks me in the eyes with a serious look
"I'm sorry for everything Alex, for all you've been through" She says with pity in her eyes

"It's fine" I croak out clearing my throat trying to move on

I take a seat on the chair in front of her desk and she sits parallel to me. Déjà vu moment again from about a month ago when she was offering me the job to work for Ace....

"I didn't think I would be back so soon" I say

"Why are you here Alex? I mean, you don't need to be working. Ace was a very very wealthy man" she says in almost a whisper not wanting to speak too loud

"I-I, I just need to work Trish. I can't stay at home doing nothing" I answer with a stutter

She doesn't respond for a minute

"Well then. I won't even bother asking about how the hell you got married.... just, just go to work Grace" she orders

Ah. The bossy and mood Trisha. Why isn't she a lovely bitch 😊

"It's actually Anderson now" I say with a serious face

"Does it look like I give a shit?" She asks pointing to her face

I let out a chuckle

"K, same box for charts?" I ask

"U know it" she confirms
"Now leave before I throw you out myself" she barks

With a smile, I exit her precious office and go back to the regular old routine of work.
Oh, how I missed working here

The patients were everything to me, so sweet and kind.
I loved taking care of them

It was good to be back. But, something still felt strange, as if something was missing in my life. Or someone....
