Nevermore, rewritten, now excluding the song.

From: EvilXisuma: You have 24 hours to break up with Grian before I do something to him myself.

Mumbo sighed as he set his phone down. He had been receiving threats from EvilX for a while now, but they had mainly been small things. And it was true, he did keep his promises, though they were all bad ones.

After a few seconds of thinking, he built up enough strength to send out a message to Grian, telling him when and where to meet up.

"Hey Mumbo," Grian smiled as he went for a hug.

"Grian," Mumbo sighed, slightly pushing Grian's hands away. Immediately, Grian knew something was up.

"What's wrong?" Grian asked, looking up at Mumbo with a confused and concerned face.

Mumbo took a deep breath, "I want to break up," Mumbo said

"You're lying," Grian narrowed his eyes, "tell me what's wrong."

"I just don't love you anymore, that's it." Mumbo looked away, trying to ignore his feelings.

"We love each other. You and I love each other, Mumbo," Grian shouted out. "Just tell me what's wrong!" He was getting frustrated by not knowing what was wrong. Was it something he did? What did he do to mess up his relationship?

"I don't want to be with you, Grian. Just understand that!" he did his best to act unaffected. It hurt him, it really did, but it was either this or Grian, and he had already made his decision.

"I won't! I won't because it's a lie!" Grian screamed, knowing that something was behind Mumbo's actions, he just had to know what it was.

Mumbo cursed himself for what he was about to say to Grian. "Who would love you?" This was very harsh, considering that most past of Grian's past relationships had ended with the other person using him.

Grian stared at him in shock, not believing that his love just said those words. Then, a tear slipped out from his eyes before he turned around and flew off.

Mumbo stared off into the distance, where his now ex-boyfriend flew. That's it for their relationship. It's as if a switch had been flicked and, in a split second, it all disappeared. There was no fixing this now, Mumbo just saw the love of his life drift away from him, and it was his own fault.

"He better stay true to his word, or else I'll murder him," Mumbo whispered under his breath, remembering the threat Evil X had made.

~Some time later because I'm lazy~

Mumbo walked into the rocket shop, only to be greeted by Grian. "Hey" Mumbo awkwardly waved.

Grian just shook his head in disapproval and walked towards the exit. Not knowing what to do, Mumbo did the first thing he thought of. He lightly grabbed Grian's wrist. "What do you want, Mumbo?" Grian spat out.

"I want to apologize. I know that what I did was so out of the blue and you weren't prepared. I can't lie to you, Grian. I do love you, but-"

"If you love me, you would've told me what I did wrong," Grian's voice cracked. He began to sniffle a bit. Mumbo's breathing hitched. He didn't want this, but it had to be done. To keep him safe.

"Grian, love, don't cry. Please don't cry. I love you, I really do-"

"But what, Mumbo?" Grian turned around to face him. He looked completely broken, like his heart had been shredded to pieces to the point that the damage was unreparable. "What is it? Why did you leave me?"

"I-I can't tell you." A knot was forming in his throat. He never expected this to be so painful.

"What do you mean?" Grian grew suspicious.

"I can't, okay? Just- if you decide that you're over me.. I won't blame you if you start looking for another relationship. Just know that I'll always love you, Grian. You're the love of my life." Mumbo let go of Grian's wrist and turned for the exit, quickly flying away.

Just as Mumbo got to his base, his phone started ringing. Mumbo sighed, realizing that the call was from EvilX. "Hello?"

"Did you do it?" EvilX asked.

"Wow, not even a hi?" Mumbo asked sarcastically.

"Did you do it?" EvilX's voice conveyed annoyance.

"Yeah," Mumbo sighed, "just, don't hurt him, please," Mumbo pleaded.

"I won't, I don't go back on my word."

Mumbo shook his head at what he was about to say. "Thank you," he whispered before the call ended. It felt weird, he never thought that he would say thank you to the server's biggest threat.

"Who were you talking with just now?" Mumbo turned around to see Grian with his arms up against his chest.

"Were you here the whole time?" Mumbo asked in surprise.

"I asked you a question." Grian's tone was almost harsh. He wanted answers, and he wanted them now.

"I can't tell you." Mumbo ran his hand through his hair, a sign that showed he was nervous, Grian observed.

"Are-were-you cheating on me?" Grian's voice was serious, a contrast to his usually happy and fun tone.

"No, of course not. I would never," Mumbo shook his head.

"Why won't you tell me, then? Don't you think I at least deserve to know?"

"I don't want you to get hurt," Mumbo explained.

"Well, it's too late for that," Grian commented dryly.

"Not like that," Mumbo sighed, "I mean physically," he whispered.

"Physically? How?" Grian asked.

"I shouldn't have said anything," Mumbo shook his head as he walked past Grian.

Grian managed to grab Mumbo's phone and look at the screen. "E-EvilX? It's him, right?" Grian lowered the phone down to look at Mumbo.

"You can't tell him that you know! He's gonna do something to you!" Mumbo pleaded.

Grian smiled and walked over to Mumbo. After a bit of hesitation, Grian wrapped his arms around him. "I'm so sorry, Grian." Mumbo started crying, "I just didn't want to hurt you. I-I didn't mean to-"

"It's okay," Grian reassured him, "but talk to me when something is going on, alright?" Grian brought his hands up to cup Mumbo's face and bring it down to face his.

"Okay," Mumbo was calming down, but he was still tightly holding onto Grian, as if he was scared that if he let go, Grian would get hurt.

"I love you."

How was that one? Better or worse than the original? I thought that my original one was a bit boring and wasn't really what I envisioned originally. I've noticed that my writing has changed a lot, but I don't know if it's gotten better or worse. It seems worse, but I'm not sure. I'm worse at being descriptive, especially when I'm writing dialogue. Anyways, I hope you (somehow managed to) enjoy(ed) this chapter.
