Grian was stood in front of a large mirror, back facing it. He had his neck turned just enough so that he would be able to examine the large, white wings protruding from his back. He crinkled his face in disgust, heart breaking at the wings' past, the way he had "earned" them.
They were just a constant reminder of his old friends, what happened to them, and the choices he had made. They were a reward for his carelessness and, looking back now, he hated that part of himself, the part that was willing to betray his friends for power.
These wings were there to nag him day after day for what he decided to do, and, no matter how much he tried to put his past behind him, he couldn't, because the seemingly beautiful wings he had were a part of him. A part that he could try to hide from others, but not himself. And every minute he spent thinking of them was only filled with regret.
Grian's communicator buzzed on the floor next to his shirt, which buzzed after the alarm system in his base was triggered, but he was too occupied to notice it. Tears threatened to spill from his eyes, but he kept wiping them away, trying to remind himself that his past was just that, his past and the best he could do now was strive for a better future, he wouldn't let his friends' quietuses be in vain.
The act, which he did daily, was to reflect (hAhA) on his past choices and any possible goals for future improvements.
Grian was pulled from his thoughts as he noticed the ringing of his mail system, alerting him of a message that had been sent from Mumbo's side. Grian picked up his communicator and shirt, stuffing the communicator in his pocket and holding the shirt against him.
He opened the chest and grabbed the note inside. "Hey Grian, we need to talk, is it okay if I come over?" Grian
Grian quickly put his shirt on, wings folding back neatly. He pulled out his communicator to see a few messages from Mumbo, a few asking where he was, if he was okay, and that he was coming over. Quickly, he sent out a message saying he was fine and at his base.
A muffled buzz came from behind him. Grian turned around to see Mumbo with a shocked expression. "Hey Mumbo!" Grian smiled tensely.
"You're one of them?!" Mumbo asked, both shock and betrayal laced into his voice.
"W-What?" All Grian could do was act oblivious.
"Watchers, Grian! You're a Watcher!" Mumbo snapped, angry at his friend. "We tried to keep our community away from your kind, we know what you're capable of!"
"You don't have to worry about me. I'm different, Mumbo, I changed!" Grian took a few steps toward his friend, only to have him back away.
"I can't trust you," Mumbo spat, shaking his head as he put his hands up in a defensive position, "You're manipulative, you destroy worlds."
Grian's heart sank, "I'm not like that! We've been friends for a few years now, you know me."
"No, I don't. You-You lied to us. You lied to me."
"Only because you guys wouldn't accept me if I didn't!" Grian clenched his fists and looked down.
Mumbo was about to justify why they wouldn't before Grian continued.
"I messed up. I know I did. I-I learned that as soon as I did it." Grian sighed and looked up to his friend, an exhausted and regretful expression on his face, "I just- I want to put this all behind me. I'm not that person anymore." Mumbo's glare softened slightly. "I miss them so much. I-I just don't want what I did to be in vain. I learned, I changed."
Tears managed to slip out of Grian's eyes, he turned away from Mumbo slightly.
Mumbo frowned and decided to comfort his friend. In a few short steps, Mumbo made his way towards Grian and opened his arms. Grian sniffed, mumbling "sorry" over and over again.
Mumbo shook his head as he squeezed Grian closer. "No, I-I shouldn't have said that. I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking."
The two hugged for a few minutes before Mumbo spoke up.
"You are different. I-I'm sorry for telling you otherwise."

Hi, this was short, sorry. In this fic, I tried to emphasize that Watchers have a bad reputation (explaining Mumbo's hostility) so don't hate him too much. Also, I appreciate y'all since you had to read through my first cringey oneshots and decided to keep reading lol
