“THE BLOODSUCKER READS MINDS?!?!?!?!”

His face looks a little red, is that bad?

“Don’t worry about it. Let the dog get used to the idea,” Jace says in my mind.

“Yes, he can. Is there a problem?” I reply as calmly as possible while trying to hide my uneasiness.

“Of course there is a problem!!!!! That’s not exactly a good thing you know. I don’t want some leech snooping around my thoughts!!!!!” screeches Adam.

“Well said leech doesn’t want to snoop around your mind. Don’t flatter yourself.” Adam retorts.

“Why you!!! How dare you insult the Alpha of the-“

“Yeah, yeah whatever. Just shut up you’re giving me a headache.”

This seems to tick off Adam, because now he runs up to Jace and holds the scruff of his shirt while glaring at him right in the eye. His movements were so fast that he even caught Jace off guard.

“You look mister. I will not tolerate your disrespect towards me. I am an Alpha dammit. I-“

“STOP!!!!” I finally scream not being able to take it anymore. “Just stop acting like little kids. I think I’m going to either pass out, or have my dad kick you out and then pass out. Please stop trying to give me a heart attack. Just...just both of you leave already. I need a break.” And with that I storm upstairs.

‘Oh calm down you’re not going to pass out,’ my wolf says, reappearing after what seems like centuries.

‘Nice to see you too,” I reply sarcastically.

‘Breathe woman, relax. You’re just overreacting about this. Go back downstairs, and tell your mates not to fight and that they need to calm down. Now GO!!!’

Huffing at my wolf, I turn around and make my way back down the stairs. Immediately Jace is at my side. He puts both of his hands on either side of my face, making my head tilt up to look at him.

“Are you ok? I’ve been trying to reach your mind but you kept ignoring me. I was so worried about you,” he rushes out. My wolf gushes at his proximity, catching me off guard.

‘What, I’m not allowed to be happy with my mate?’ she demands.

‘He’s a vampire…’ I think.

‘You’re point?’

‘Never mind.’

“Yeah I’m fine. I was just talking to my wolf.”

“I bet your wolf misses me, right? She can’t tolerate the fact that she has another mate, a vampire at that, and she demands that you be next to me, right?” Adam asks, looking as smug as usual.  

“If it makes you feel any better my wolf is actually purring at having Jace so close,” I say much to Adam’s surprise.

“Well-“ he starts, but I cut him off. I have had enough.

“If you are going to argue more or say how you will make me come to you or whatever just leave. I am done with talking. I am mentally exhausted and need to do homework. Please, for the last time, just leave.” I am beyond exhausted and I really need to get some time away from these people before I explode. I never intended for this meeting to happen, but it did. So, I took the opportunity to introduce the two to one another. Now, they can leave.

“Alright, I don’t wish to intrude any further. I’ll take my leave then. Sorry if I caused any trouble, and please tell your father that I bid him farewell. Good bye Ani, I’ll see you soon,” Jace says sweetly before he kisses my cheek and leaves. I walk him to the door, and he smiles at me before he makes his way to his car. I close the door and turn around to see Adam with a weird expression in his face.

“‘Please tell your father that I bid him farewell’. How old is that vampire dude? Who else on earth talks like that?” Adam mocks making me laugh.

“You know what, it’s time for me to go as well. I’m sorry if I bothered you too much Ani. It’s just that my wolf acts like some hormonal teenager when we’re around you. He especially can’t stand Jace, even more so when he’s around you. It drives him insane, which is probably why I act like some unmannered caveman. I’m sorry.” After that heartfelt apology, Adam comes to me and hugs me tightly. Not too tight where I can’t breathe, but a comfortable tight where I feel really secure. I hug him back, partly because my wolf is urging me to do so, and partly because I want to myself. After a while of standing there and hugging each other, Adam pulls back and looks at me but keeps his arms around my waist.

“I’ve always wanted to do this, but I’ve never had the chance to. Please forgive me.”

And with that he leans forward and places his lips on mine. He catches me off guard and I have to place my hands on his chest to make sure that I don’t fall. His arms go around my back, holding me in place. He kisses me deeply, his lips firm but soft against mine. He doesn’t push the limit by trying to add his tongue, but I can tell he wants to. He pushes us against the wall where he pins me with his body. His teeth graze and lightly bites my lower lip before letting me go. He rests his head against mine while I close my eyes and try to catch my breath. I open my eyes to see him staring down at me. He bends his head down to my face again.

“Thank you,’ he murmurs ever so quietly, as he places a small piece of paper inside the back pocket of my pants. And with a small peck on my lips he’s out the door and off, leaving me against the wall still trying to catch my breath.

My wolf is in ecstasy as she tries to hold on to the moment, while still I’m trying to process what happened. I have to admit I very much enjoyed that kiss, but I had just also had an intense make out session with Jace not too long ago. Damn I feel like a whore.

“Mmmm, so it looks like someone had a little fun,” my dad said with amusement from the top of the stairs.

“What? Dad we only kissed.” He laughs in response.

“I know, but you clearly enjoyed it. Do you see that ridiculous smile on your face? It’s contagious.”

“See, that’s where I am so confused. I know I really like him and that kiss just proved it. But I also feel really horrible. I feel like I’m betraying Jace.”

“You’re not. Adam is your mate too. You have the right to kiss either of them as you please. I know it sounds a little weird but that’s the truth. Both of them are your mates. It’ll get better as time goes on, I promise.” My dad kisses my forehead and goes back upstairs to do whatever work he has left.
