Their Promise

"I am determined" I say to myself, gripping the bedsheets in the palm of my hand, so hard that my knuckles go white. "I will find out why I'm here. Why he's lying to me. And that's a promise." I sigh and suddenly feel way to tired to even operate and I fall back against the bed. I don't even have time to pull the covers over myself before I've fallen asleep.

~Travis' POV~

A bright light. A whoosh. And now I'm back. I sigh and look at the gloomy library, estimating the time as about 1 in the morning. I walk back down the corridor to my room, then I stop.
She's just across the hallway. She's asleep in the room opposite me. At this moment, all I can see is her smile. The way she's composed unless I do something to defy her rules of modesty. How she pushes and pushes to get what she wants. She's a perfect holder for her. But then again, she's not just perfect as a holder, she's a perfect character herself. Everything about her is just ... fitting as a descendant. And against my better judgement, I open the door slowly.

The first thing I see is her lying In the bed. The image of sleeping perfection. Her powder blue hair is spread all around her head in a fan like way, and it shines in the natural moonlight that I made as a feature for her bedroom. She's laying on top of the covers that I put out for her, one fist looking like it used to be clenched up in a ball with the sheets. Her face is calm. No smile. But no angry or upset expression either. Just peacefulness, which is good.
She also seems to have found the nightdress I put out for her. It's white, and in my opinion, makes her look even more like an angel. Everything in this room is calming, and for the first time, I find myself smiling my real smile of the day. My wounds don't matter anymore. The pain doesn't bother me at all. This ... this heals me more than any potion could and ever will.

I softly slide my arms under her, sitting her on my lap as I pull up the bedsheets, fluffing up her pillows so she'll be comfortable. Then I softly lay her down on the bed, tucking her in. I smile again. My voice soft, almost barely a whisper, I say"Sweet dreams ... Blueberry"

I quickly walk out of the room, and back into mine, closing my door quietly so I won't wake her. I sit on the side of my bed and think. What is going on with me? I've never felt this way for any of the others. Never. But ... they weren't like her at all. She's different. But of course I don't think like that of her, she's just another girl for Enki. I don't care. I never will.
I  blow out the candles and rest my sword next to me in my bed, one hand wrapped around it. I recall that one project said that I should replace that sword with herself. And I did, and I admit, it was a fun night. But it wasn't fun when I got several lashings from Enki. I never get attached to them though. Most projects aren't compatible with the Fury, and that causes them to be killed. But this one ... Katelyn  ... seems like she will be. I'm almost positive.

~Morning~

I am awake all of a sudden. In my mind, flashes of soft blue hair and pale skin flash through my mind, I ignore them as best as I can. I sit up, wincing as I go, making my way to the bathroom to clean myself up. Last night was ... eventful to say the least. My wounds haven't fully healed yet - and they wont for awhile - ... and its shown through my shirt. Oh well. Bandages aren't really miracle workers. I tear them off and sigh in pain as I go, cleaning the wounds out and wincing every time the water washes over them. Man, shadow knights can go and suck dick.
I finally make my way slowly downstairs to find Katelyn stood in the kitchen, looking around for some sort of food I guess. But she has no luck. She hasn't spotted me standing in the doorway yet, so I appear in front of the stove and start making myself some food.

"Gee, thanks a lot Travis" She says, huffing and she opens a random cupboard, having success. She smiles and starts looking for a bowl and spoon, clattering around the kitchen. But two can play at that game. I decide to match her bad mood.

"Ach, shut up will ya? Some people are trying to cook in peace." I say, cooking the bacon, not even looking at her.

"Don't act all moody with me Demon Boy!" She yells, taking her bowl and storming out the room in a flurry.

"Someone's on her period ... " I mutter, smirking to myself as she yells incoherently at me from her room. But at that moment, as I cook, all I can think about is her. Great. So first she takes over my house, and now she's taking over my mind too.

I sit back on my chair, thinking as I write down in a fast storm, my empty plate beside me. All I see are words. Nothing else. I don't even notice Katelyn walk into the room to get another book. She hasn't been out of her room all day except from to do this, and I can estimate when she finishes a book.

"What are you doing Demon Boy?" I hear her voice, loud and clear. I look up, pulling papers over my essay. She frowns at this move "You're hiding something from me Travis. And I promise you ... I will find out what it is" She walks out the room, a stack of books in her arms. I smirk and  continue to write my essay that's "due" for tomorrow.

~Midnight~

I stand in the corridor, watching Katelyn's light go out. I sigh in relief and I start walking down the corridor, going down to the very last room, I stare at it and I sigh yet again. I pull out my dagger, encrusted with rubies, (the exact colour of blood) and I dig it into my palm. I wince as I press the dagger deeply, blood already spilling down my hands, I then press my palm against the wall, staining it with a smear of bright red blood in the same location as always. I quickly bandage it up, and I take a potion to stop it as the door opens.
It eventually opens, and there it is, The Relic of the Fury. Glowing in all it's glory. It's one of the last three left. Obviously, I only have the Fury's right now. As I said, Esmund's has been deactivated and won't work. So I can't give it to anyone. And Kul'zak's is flying round realms and dimensions, showing no sign of stopping. The Destroyer, The Matron, and The Keeper's have all gone to their owners. The Keeper going to me. The Matron going to a girl named Aphmau ... and The Destroyer's relic ... it has been destroyed, but the fragments are held by Aphmau's boyfriend (?) Aaron.
I promised him I'd find the right girl for The Fury. I will do it for him. He gave me a second chance at life when I was facing off the Demon Warlock all those years ago, after he killed most of my family, and now is my time to repay for his troubles. She will be back. The Fury will be here again.

"I promise ... She'll be back"
