Her Feelings

"It's time" he nods and looks at Katelyn as well. He then clears his throat.

"Hey Katelyn ... Could you take Alina to the market for us ..? We need to talk to Travis privately for about half an hour." He smiles over at her and stands up, getting Alina's little shoes and coat. Katelyn follows and looks back at me nervously. I smile and nod encouragingly at her, trying to reassure her that nothing is wrong. She looks back at Alina, then to me again and smiles softly at me, before walking out of the door. I sigh softly.

"Now down to business" I say, getting up and turning to Aphmau. "Your study is in the basement right ..?" She nods and we all walk down there, our different ancestors taking over us as we go. When we've sat down in a circle down in the study, we've all changed.

~Enki's POV~

Finally. And right on time as well. I look across at Irene, I'm sat away from Shad, as we don't get along. It's more like a triangle than anything. No one speaks for awhile, and you can almost smell the tension in the air. Then Shad decides to pipe his annoying little voice up.

"So that girl is to be Menphia's new host?" He says, looking at me, his mouth turning into a twisted smirk "She's a bit soft don't you think?" I don't retaliate. I think that's what he wanted from me, but he seems to forget that I'm not Travis anymore.

"Katelyn is to be tried as Menphia's new host. Travis thinks she's the best one by far, and I agree. The others where airheads compared to Katelyn" I look over at Irene, so far she's not said anything. "Irene?" I say, tilting my head slightly at her. She doesn't speak for awhile and Shad puts one arm on her shoulder. Then she speaks.

"I am just conversing with Aphmau about Katelyn. Unlike you two, I care for my host." She says, her eyes flickering between amber and dark brown as she speaks with Aphmau. "I also agree with Enki, she seems like the best suitor for Menphia. And I knew her better than all of you. Travis was right to think she is the best" She looks directly at me, before lowering her voice a tone "You're judgment is mostly always right Enki, I trust you with this. You brought me back."

"Yes, but my only concern is that Menphia is very stubborn. She wants the right girl at the right time. You know how she is, she needs the best of her line, and so far she's rejected 15 girls. 15 girls are dead. This is the last one in her bloodline, if she doesn't accept now, I- ... we'll never get her back." I say, running what I always say to her, like a script at this point. Shad snickers, and mutters something along the lines of

"I don't want her back. She's a pain in the ass" He smirks at me as I struggle to stay composed. My voice is cool and calm. 

"It's your fault this happened anyways. You and you shadow knights killed her." Before he can say anything Irene interrupts and acts like those comments where never made.

"And you also know Menphia doesn't care about the girls who are dead. She wants the best, and I believe Katelyn will do the trick for her" She shoots back at me, her gaze and stance getting slightly tense. Shad rubs her back softly, trying to calm her down. She stands up and crouches before my face, looking me straight in the eye, but instead of talking to me, she says "Travis. I am 99% sure that Katelyn is the right one for Menphia, and that she will not die." She stays there for a matter of seconds before returning to her designated seat next to Shad.

"I think you should make you're move soon though Enki. It's been a week since you've had her there and nothing has progressed so far. It's not going to work if you leave it for longer" Shad suddenly says, looking at me sincerely. "You can't keep Katelyn there forever" He then turns back to Irene, watching her eyes change as she talks to her host. She's clever and caring like that, she plans her steps out and always makes sure she has everything right before moving onto what happens next. I've seen her in action before, and her tactics are the best, a close tie between her and Menphia.

"I agree" She says, looking at me again "You cannot keep Katelyn imprisoned forever Enki, make your move sometime this coming week. Maybe Sunday, that's in two days, isn't it?" 

"It's settled then" I say "I'll have to tell Menphia" 

"You really are attached to her, aren't you" She says, smiling at me softly, standing up, starting to blow some candles out. "It's quite cute, watching you try to flirt with a relic" She laughs softly and quickly walks out before I could do and say anything, but I know she's still outside the door. Best not leave me and Shad in a room alone together.

I walk out, leaving Shad in the room to tidy up, I can already hear him huffing angrily. I turn to Irene who's still laughing at her joke, and I smile evilly. She looks at me, and I walk past her, placing a tickle spell on her that lasts an hour. Anytime anyone touches her, she gets tickled, and falls into peals of laughter. I can feel her confused eyes burn onto my back, but I say and do nothing.

~Katelyn's POV~ 

I smile as I walk down the street hand in hand with Alina. She's so cute. She smiles and laughs as a street performer does a silly dance, and whenever she sees a cake she begs me to buy it for her. I got her one, and she's been behaving really good, so I don't see why she can't have it when we get back to Aphmau's house. 

We're headed there right now, and Alina runs up to flowers, dragging me along with her, smelling them. She smiles and picks one, I smile and put one in the hair, tucked behind her ear. She finds another one for me, one of those wild daisies, and places it where I did it. I smile softly and fix it so it stays put and we walk home. 

I open the door and I find them all in the kitchen. Travis smiles softly at me and I smile back. Alina runs to Aphmau.

"Auntie Katie got me a cake!" she says excitedly, and I put the bag on the counter. 

"I hope it's okay. She was behaving like a little angel. And there's one for both of you in there as well, to say thank you" I say, smiling sheepishly as I make my way over to Travis. He whispers in my ear, his breath hot on my face, and lips brushing up against my ear ever so slightly.

"I gotta surprise for you when we get home" I feel myself go hot all over, and I move away slightly. He doesn't seem surprised. "Aph, Aaron, Alina, thank you for having us, but we had better get going otherwise it'll be dark when we get back" He says, hugging them all. We make our way to the door and Aphmau hugs me tightly.

"Thank you for the cake Katelyn. And for taking Alina out, maybe now she'll sleep" She says, laughing softly. I smile as well and I hug Aaron. Then Alina. And then we leave. 

Travis turns to me and takes my hand softly. "Don't want all the big bad wolves to take you away from me" He says, pulling me slightly closer. I shiver slightly, and he just uses that as an excuse to have me even closer to him. As we walk, our breaths make little clouds in the air, as it's winter nights now. We stop in the middle of a forest, Travis holding me against his body. I go a light shade of pink and I hit him in the chest lightly. 

"What are you doing?" I hiss, looking up at him. 

"Preparing a portal, so stay still" He says, and a portal appears in front of us. We walk in and it snaps shut, we land in the middle of my bedroom. I go bright pink again. 

"And why did you make a portal leading to the room I'm staying in?" I hiss again, sitting on the edge of the bed. He sits next to me, tilting his head, smiling.

"Just so you could get in bed first. I know how much you love sleep Blueberry" He says, and we stare at each other. His hand slides over the cover and covers mine. I don't look away. Surprisingly, he is the first one to look away. "I should let you sleep." he smiles and leans over, kissing my forehead softly like he always does. He stands up and walks to the door, pausing as he gets there. "Goodnight Blueberry"
