"Hey, mama. Can you come over and watch the kids for a few hours? I gotta go with Bre to see her father.""Yeah, sure. It's about time you meet her father. I wonder why he is like."
"Now, ma you can forget about that. He ain't coming out. He got a life sentence."
"Damn, that's terrible. I had no idea. I can't imagine how hard it is for Breanna."
"Yeah, she's a strong one."
"Yeah, she is."
"And ma?"
"Yeah, baby."
"I know pops death took a toll on you, but I want you to grieve first before you get into another relationship. I don't want you to jump into the dating world too fast when you are still mourning over pops."
"Aaron, don't worry about me. I'll be fine." She smiled over the phone.
"You know I can't do that." He chuckled while smiling. "How soon can you get here?"
"Twenty minutes."
"Okay, we'll be waiting."
They say their byes and hang up the phone.
"Breanna!"
"Y-yeah?"
"Where are you at?"
"In the bathroom."
Aaron walks up the stairs to the bathroom, looking at Breanna.
"Baby, you good?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." She quietly sniffled. "I'll be out in a minute."
"Okay. Ma said she gonna be here to watch the kids."
"Good."
Aaron starts to walk out but walks back in.
"Are you sure you are okay?"
"Mhm."
The entire time in the bathroom she didn't make eye contact with him. Aaron turns Breanna around in a swift motion, placing her on the sink.
"Sweetheart, talk to me."
Aaron kind of figure that this has something to do with her father. He lifts her chin up while looking at her. Her eyes are watery but no tears are coming down. Aaron pecks her lips three times before talking to her again.
"Bre, it's gonna be okay." He comforts her with words.
"It's so hard, Aaron."
Aaron wraps his arms around her waist, urging her to keep going.
"Every time I go I get like this all weepy and stuff because I know every time I leave from that place, he will not come with me. He was judged unfairly, and I hate it. The saddest part of all is that I can't help him."
"I know, baby, and I'm sorry that you are going through this. Maybe you can't help him get out, but you can make him happy by going by to see him often and telling him things that are going on with you. Bring his spirit back up. Although it's a little to no chance of him getting out, just know he is thinking about all the things that he missing out on and how terrible he is feeling because he wants to be out here with you and his family. Your father would do anything to get out and see you and his grandkids grow. There are men out here that don't want to be a father to their kids because of their mistakes. Your pops ain't like that. He still wanna know what's going on in your life and still wanna be in your life in some way while he's locked up. Your pops didn't abandon you by choice. Just remember that."
