Four Weeks Later

"I knew Breanna was up to no good."

"Ma, not now. I'm still messed up about the whole thing."

"Aaron, she left you and your kids alone with no explanation. I thought yall were getting better with your marriage."

"We were well I thought we were. I just-," Aaron sighed while looking at his mother. "I just don't want to think the worst about her. I mean she is still my wife, mama. You don't see any divorce papers laying around."

"Yet." She responded to him.

"Ma, if she loves me she won't send them without explaining why. Her phone is disconnected. It's like she ain't walking on this earth no more."

"Sweetie, it's a difference between loving someone and being in love with someone."

"You don't think I know that, mama. I just want her to talk to me. I didn't want to push her anymore and wait until she was ready, and she never told me. She was walking around here acting like everything was fine, and I knew it wasn't fine."

"Then why you didn't ask her?"

"Because the last time I asked her she won't tell me so I had stopped asking."

"What else?"

"What do you mean?"

"You hiding something. Tell me."

"No, I'm not."

"Yes, you are. Now tell me."

Aaron breathes softly as he looks at her.

"I put my hands on her."

"Aaron Taylor Russell now you know better to hit a woman, not alone your wife!" She scolded him.

"I didn't hit her. I choked her."

"That's even worse! Why would you do that?!"

"I found out that she was lying to me, and she was talking more with this other man instead of me."

"Aaron, I taught you better. I told you that you cannot let your anger overpower you. You have to control it."

"I know, but you know I can only take so much. She kept lying to me, and I just snapped."

"I thought you liked Breanna?"

"I only tolerated that girl. I knew you loved her, so I had to grin and bear it and keep my thoughts to myself."

Aaron nods his head and doesn't think much of it.

"I loved her and I still do."

"I know, baby. Now it's time for us to think of something deeper."

"Like what?" He scrunched his face.

"I don't know. Have you talked to any of her family members?"

"Yes, I tried but they are saying that they don't know where she is or they haven't spoken to her. Wait.. wait a minute I didn't talk to her dad yet. Maybe he knows."

"Okay, set up a visit to go see him."

"Ight, I will. You cooking tonight?"

"Yeah. I need you to go to the grocery store and pick up a few things."

"Okay. What you need?"

"Milk, tomato sauce, and cheddar cheese."

"Okay. I'm going to get it now."
