A Last Name

"See, it's all in the wrist. That way, you get action on the ball." A voice said.

"Thanks, Uncle Ferrus." Another voice said.

I turned to see Max talking to someone.

"Max? Hey follow me." I said as I dragged Berto behind me.

"No problem, kid." The guy said.

"Hey new guy." I said with a smile.

"Raven- and Berto?" Max asked shocked.

"You guys know each other?" I asked calmly.

"Work." Berto explained.

He looked at the guy and bit his lip.

"Hi Commander Ferrus." Berto said calmly.

"Aren't you suppose to be at base?" Ferrus asked with a frown.

"I.... had some free time."

"There you are, Max!" A voice yelled.

I smiled as I turned to see a Syd and Kirby walking towards us.

"I thought you said you were going to meet us by the whack a mole." Kirby said calmly.

"Did I? Ah, sorry. Um, hey, I wanna introduce you to someone. This is my Uncle Forge Ferrus." Max said calmly.

"Nice to meet you sir." Syd said softly.

"Hey it's Berto." Kirby said happily.

"So this is the guy you wouldn't shut up about." Syd said with a smile.

"Shut up." I mouthed.

"So... where do you guys work?" I asked as I looked at Berto.

"Um...... tell me your last name and I'll tell you where I work." Berto said with a smile.

"Yea, what is your last name, now that I think about it... I don't even know." Max said calmly.

"Raven should you really tell them?" Tinker asked softly.

"I could lie." I said softly.

"And if they find out?"

"I guess you're right."

"My last name isn't important.... just like your job isn't." I said with a small smile.

"Alright, but you gotta tell me someday." Max said with a laugh.

"Hopefully I get to learn first." Berto said calmly.

I sent him a smile and then looked behind Max.

"Hey, milk bottles. I love this game." I said as I grabbed a ball.

"It's rigged." Max said calmly.

I smiled as I moved my hand back and threw the ball. I hit right in the center and the bottles fell.

"What?" He asked shocked.

"What can I say, I got some moves." I said with a laugh as I was handed a bird.

"Here you go Berto... now we are even." I said with a laugh as I handed it to him.

"I think I'll name it Rae." He said with a smile.

I laughed as I shook my head.

"Well I'm going to kidnap her, good seeing you all, bye." Berto said as he dragged me away.

I laughed as I shook my head and followed him. We soon made it to the tunnel of love and Berto helped me on the ride.

"Careful, watch your step." He said as he helped me on.

I tripped and ended up falling into his arms.

"Sorry." I said as I looked up at him.

"Guess you are already falling for me." He said with a smile.

"Oh shut up." I said with a laugh.

We set down and I smiled as he put an arm around the back of my head.

"So, what's with your boss? Why is he so grumpy?" I asked softly.

"I don't really know.... I mean I've heard it's cause he lost his daughter a long time ago, but... I don't know... I only ever known about his wife." Berto said softly.

I gently laid my head on his shoulder and looked around.

"It's peaceful here." I said softly.

"Yea.... you know.... last time we saw each other.... you said I could kiss you.... that still available?" He asked with a smile.

"Yes, but you have to be in the boyfriend pack." I said with a smile.

"Can I have that pack? Or do I have to have your last name to get it?" He asked playfully.

"I think it will be fine." I said as he leaned forward.

He gently pressed his lips against mine and I smiled as he wrapped an arm around the back of my neck and pulled me closer.

"That was better then I had hoped for." He said softly.

"Way better." I whispered as I sent him a smile.

Ring! Ring!

I moved away and let out a groan when I saw Naught's number pop up.

"I have to take this." I said softly.

I answered the phone and let out a sigh as we got off the ride.

"What do you want?" I said angrily.

"You need to come to the base now!"

"Why?"

"Don't ask questions just get here." He growled out.

I hung up and let out a sigh as I turned to look at Berto.

"I have to go.... but I'll call you later." I said as I sent him a small smile.

"I'll wait by the phone." He said with a laugh.

I smiled as I ran off and made my way to the secret base. I walked inside to see Naught talking to Dread.

"What's going on?" I asked calmly.

"The water elemental was defeated.... and we believe we know where to find an ultralink." Naught said calmly.

"Where?" I asked as I crossed my arms over my chest.

"Don't worry, you'll be going with our collector to get it.... we want you to distract Max Steel while Mr. Winter's gets the package." He said calmly.

"Winters?"

"Troy Winters." A voice said.

I turned to see a man with blonde hair and green eyes. He had on black armor with grey traces and purple pieces.

"You must be Blackbird." He said with a smirk.

"I'm to work with this thief?"

"If you want to get the package from N-Tek you will." Naught said calmly.

"Fine, when do I leave?"

"In two days. You best get ready." He said as he turned his back to me.

I let out a sigh as I walked out of the room and towards my room. I heard a ding and pulled my phone out to see a text message.

Still waiting by the phone. :)

Sorry Berto, can't call you right now, got family business to take care of. Should be able to call you in two days.

I turned my phone off and frowned as I walked into my room and slammed the door.
