Today I'll be showing you how I edit faces using ibisPaint x.

1. Start by using the blur tool to smoothen out your models skin. The intensity depends on how natural you want it to look, usually I stay between 40 to 60. I recommend using an airbrush, but a brush with harder edges still works.
In certain areas like the upper lip and eye the eyes should have a lower intensity.

You can use the smudge tool first and then the blurring tool.

2. After making the skin look smoother, you will notice that the face starts losing definition.

Now this is where contouring and highlighting comes in.

Highlight and contour the models face where necessary, remember to use different layers. I have a brief explanation for this in a previous chapter.

3. I also add some blush, colour to the lips and dark the eyebrows. Depending on the graphic I'm going for, I also adjust the eye colour and brighten the white part of the eye.

This is a before and after.

I totally forgot to do this, but it's extremely important to edit the neck and any other bits of skin showing, eg arms

I totally forgot to do this, but it's extremely important to edit the neck and any other bits of skin showing, eg arms. Reduce the blur, highlights and contour for these other parts. If you don't, it can make your graphic look hella weird.

Use the smudge tool to fix the hairline if necessary.
