Chapter 4

THOMAS POV:

I put my hand over the hickey. Could Newt really be alive? I signed and got ready. Newt is gone. I also can't run today because the medjacks want to make sure I'm okay but I can help around the glade. It was a lot more easier because everyone knew I was deaf. Gally did move on and now that I admitted I was deaf he doesn't care. I was helping the builders when Bark nudged my leg. I stopped looking and noticed everyone started running to the box. I followed with Bark by my side. We made it and the box opened. I swear my heart skipped a beat. There was some girl, a dog that looked to be the same kind as bark, and Ben. The gate was opened. The screamed and hid. "No it's okay, they won't hurt us" said Ben. I was confused and so was everyone else. Ben grabbed the girls hand and stood up. I felt my throat go dry. "Ben, how are you alive" asked Alby. "Well, I guess the grievers didn't kill me. I don't remember much from outside the maze but I do remember some stuff" said Ben.

He climbed out of the box and everyone started getting the stuff. The box didn't go back down. "What do you remember" asked Gally. "I remember meeting my family, going back to highschool, and seeing Newt after his surgery" said Ben a little sadly. I was shocked. Newt is, no. He can't be alive. Newt is gone. "You saw Newt" asked Sonya happily. "Ya, he told me to ask Thomas to come down in the box today" said Ben. We were all silent and I felt everyone stair at me. "NO" I yelled. "Thomas" said Teresa. "NEWT IS GONE. HE'S DEAD. I DON'T KNOW HOW BEN IS ALIVE AND I DON'T CARE BUT I JUST KNOW THAT NEWT IS GONE. He is never coming back. I'm just lucky I was able to marry him" I said sadly. I said nothing and started leaving. Bark followed me. "Newt" I asked. Newt burst into tears. "You should be asleep greenie" said Newt. I turned Newt to face me and saw a bloody raiser blade in his hand. "Newt what are you doing" I asked. I took the raiser blade from Newt. I threw it away and Newt stood there.

I grabbed his arms. They were cut badly. "Newt, why did you cut yourself" I asked. "It doesn't matter Thomas. I'm gonna go crazy anyway. It's not like you even care" said Newt. "I DO CARE. Newt listen to me. Yes you might go crazy some day but how do you know I won't go crazy two? I wouldn't care if we went crazy because we have each other and I know that I would make my last days worth it. If you want you can feel sorry for yourself but looking back you will regret it. If you knew you were going to die it's best you live life to the fullest. That way when the clock stops and your gone, you leave everyone and yourself with happy memories and how you were able to be happy when you knew your fate" I said. Newt cried and hugged me. I hugged back and calmed him down. I wrapped up his arms and we started dating some time after that. I had no idea that he was stung though. He never took his bracelet thing off. I sat in the woods and held my knees. Bark sat next to me and put his paw on my leg. I hugged Bark. I'm glad I have a service dog.
