Chapter 1

THOMAS POV:

I was at a school basket ball game. I decided to get a snack. I went to the food place and got in line. I ordered some popcorn and water. Nothing wrong with that. "Hey" said a boy. "Hi, I'm Stephen" I said. "Naris" said Newt. We smiled and talked about stuff. We became good friends.

"I'm scared" said Newt. "Why" I asked. "It's pretty high and looks scary" said Newt. "I can go with you" I said. Newt smiled. We went up the stairs and Newt held my hand. We went down the water slide together and I think Newt got over his fear.

I sat on the steps outside the my house. Newt came and sat next to me. "You okay" he asked. "No" I said. "What is it" asked Newt. I signed. "My brother Blake entered the maze. He said WCKD changed his name to Ben" I said. "Why" asked Newt. "Because, it has to follow the characters in the story" I said.

"Newt she is my sister" I said with tears in my eyes. "DON'T LIE TO ME THOMAS. YOU'RE BLOODY CHEATING ON ME. I NEVER WANT TO BLOODY SEE YOU AGAIN" Newt yelled. He stormed away and I fell to my knees crying.

I bolted up in the pit. "You okay" asked Teresa. I looked up and saw Teresa sitting outside the pit. "What happened" I asked. She said nothing. "Teresa" I asked. She signed. "Everyone knows you are deaf Thomas" said Teresa. I was surprised. "And they locked me up for that" I asked sitting up. "They want to banish you tonight. WCKD said that you can see Newt on the other side" said Teresa. "No, I can't. I told Newt we would get out of here" I said. "Newt died Tom. I'm sorry but he is gone" said Teresa. I broke down and started crying. I still had the ring from our wedding. My Newt is gone. "Hey Tommy, you okay" asked Newt. "I feel soar. Gally had us all over the glade building and repairing stuff" I said. We sat on the hammock. Newt started rubbing my back. "Well, I might be able to help Tommy" said Newt. I relaxed as Newt rubbed my back. "You have the hands of a angel" I said. Newt smiled. "Good, that means it's working" said Newt. I remember that night.

I got a idea and looked up. "Teresa, what if this is just a tv show? Newt might still be alive" I said. "THOMAS, Newt is gone. He's dead Tom. This is real life not some soap opera or some cheese story. The grievers killed Newt. I'm sorry Tom but Newt is gone. He is never coming back" said Teresa. I went back to crying. Newt is dead. That night I was taken to the doors. They pushed me into the maze and the doors sealed shut. There was a beetle blade watching me. I honestly haven't felt this shucking depressed since I lost my hearing. I promised Newt I would leave with him by my side. A griever ran in front of me. "You" I said. That was the griever that took my ability to hear and my Newt away. I got a idea. I ran around with the griever chasing me. It followed me the whole way. I ran past a wall and I swear I saw Newt. "Tommy" he said as I ran past him. I was confused. Newt is dead. How did I see him there? I also noticed how he was wearing a cast on his leg. I ran into a wall and smacked my head against it. I fainted.
