A few days after being cooped up in my room as the rehearsals went on, I awoke to the sound of all the contestants down stairs, getting ready to start rehearsing, seeing as the competition was drawing nearer. I stayed laying down cause I knew my dad wouldn't want me wandering around, but then got a bright idea. I decided I could wear a mask! It'll hide my face along with my hoodie and I smiled widely as I quickly got up and changed into a stripped long sleeved, grey joggers, with my grey shoes, a black beanie, gloves and my black mask, and walked quietly down the stairs and watched as everyone. Our final team was set up, seeing as we lost a few animals here and there. I smiled as Rosita and Gunther walked into their practice room, as Ash complained to my dad about having to wear a dress and as Mike stood around doing nothing. I shook my head and crept to the stage and smiled as I saw that it was empty. I haven't been able to get on this stage in weeks and just dance around. I decided it was safe enough since everyone would be in their practice rooms and my dad would be wondering around checking on them. I made one final look around and turned on and started to dance around. The more I got into it, The more I forgot about the world and started singing along. Little did I know that there was someone watching me. When I stopped to take a breather, I heard clapping. Thinking it was my dad, I turned around and was about to take down my mask when I saw it was Johnny. "Wow that was amazin'! Hey why're you wearin' a mask?" He asked, walking towards me. I shook my head and threw up my hand to hide my face. "Oh! No, I'm sorry! I shouldn't have asked it's rude, I'm really sorry." He said, stepping back a bit. I peaked through my fingers and watched him. "I just really thought your dancin' and singin' was amazin'. I'm Johnny by the way." He said as he stuck out his hand to shake mine. "... I'm Jennifer." I said as I quickly shook his hand. "Beautiful name, I'm sorry if I scared you out there, I didn't mean to." He said, chuckling to himself. I smiled and blushed underneath my mask and giggled, thanking him for the compliments. "No problem, so what're you doing here? I don't remember you trying out." He asked me in confusion. "I... Umm.... know Buster Moon." I said quietly, looking down at the floor. "Really? That's pretty cool, so are you thinking of joining? I'm sure he won't mind!" Johnny said, as I looked up he was smiling. I shook my head quickly and told him I wasn't allowed to join. "What do ya mean?" He asked, but I just shook my head and we both turned our heads as the others came in and saw us talking. "Hey Johnny, who's that up there?" Rosita asked and my dad pushed his way to the front. "Jennifer? What're you doing?" He asked frantically as he ran up to me. I got down to his level and quietly explained to him what happened, leaving a few things, like my blushing and Johnny calling my name beautiful, out. "Jennifer you know it's dangerous! What if they had freaked out?" He said quietly as one of them asked what was going on. "Nothing! Nothing is goi-" My dad started to say and I got up and ran out of the room and back to my bedroom. I threw off my mask, gloves and hoodie and locked my door. I leaned against it and started to feel tears against my eyes, realizing my dad was right. What if they did freak out? What if one of them took off my mask and told the police? I put my hands against my face and cried softly into them.
