I laid on the floor as I listened to the soft piano music flowing from down stairs, cringing as I heard the mis-keys being played. I stood up and slipped on my slippers and rolled up the sleeved to my black and white stripped shirt and walked to the window and gazed out, grinning as I saw a small family of four gorillas walking down the street. The children were skipping and playing while the mom and dad held hands and watched, talking among themselves. I frowned as I realized I would never have that. Soon the family disappeared from sight and I let out a sigh, hopping the best for them. I looked around my room and listened as I heard my dad say it was time for a break, thus giving me the signal that it was ok to come out in 10 minutes. After a few minutes I walked to my door and walked out, slowly walking down the stairs and humming to myself when I saw Johnny sitting at the piano in one of the practice rooms. I hide behind a wall and listened as he tried to practice again, and frowned when he got frustrated. I really wanted him to win and start to get better. As I started to get lost in my thoughts, I failed to notice the lack of piano music. I gasped as the door started to open and I quickly grabbed the nearest thing to cover my face, a sun hat. "Oh! Hey, you alright?" Johnny asked. I nodded with the hat in response, hoping he wouldn't ask why I covered my face. "You're Jennifer, correct?" he asked, smiling from what I could see from the small holes in the hat. "Yes, that's me." I said softly, shaking slightly. "Are you sure you're ok? You look like you're shaking." He said, resting his hand on my shoulder. "Yeah I'm fine, thanks." I said quickly, going around him and walking quickly yelling behind me "You're supposed to be on break now!" I heard him softly chuckling and I sat down in one of the audience chairs, sighing softly to myself. "I hope you don't find it rude if I sit next to you." Johnny said, sitting in the chair to my right. I held up the hat between us, my face heating up. "I don't mind, I hope you don't find it rude for me to hold the hat." I said, and all Johnny did was laugh and said he didn't mind. "Are you hungry?" He asked, and as I was about to deny it, my stomach decides to growl. He laughs and holds a half of a sandwich to me. I stare at it and quickly grab it, thanking him. "It's no problem." He said, eating his half. I smiled and started eating, enjoying the silence. "So how is it that you know Mr. Moon? if you don't mind me askin'?" He questioned, passing me a bottle of water under the hat. I went to open it and noticed he already did it for me. I smiled and told him I was his daughter. "Oh that's really cool, I didn't know he was married or had kids." He said with a laugh. "Oh he's not married, I'm his only kid." I said, noticing my arm was getting tired and was starting to slouch. Johnny noticed too and grabbed the hat and held it for me. "Thank you, I appreciate it." I said, rolling my shoulder slowly. "It's no problem, I just want you to be comfortable." He said, finishing the rest of his sandwich. "I heard you playing your song." I said, not wanting the conversation to end. I could feel Johnny get more comfortable as he asked how I liked it. "Oh I love the song, but it needs more work." I said, cowering slightly, wishing I had just said that he was doing great. "Oh yeah I know, I just don't think the songs for me right now, but I don't know what other song to do." He said, sighing. "Can I see your song list?" I asked, and when the paper came into my sight I grabbed it and read through it and smiled as I saw one song I knew would be good. "How about "I'm Still Standing" by Elton John? I know that song is really good." I suggested, handing back the paper, my hand hidden underneath my shirt. "You know what, I think I might try that! Thank you Jennifer." Johnny said, as we heard the other coming back in. "You're welcome, I'm sorry but I have to go." I said grabbing the hat and started walking away, when he stopped me. "We can still see each other right?" He asked, his voice slightly shaky. "Of course." I said, my back turned to him and I smiled widely. I ran back to my room and laughed loudly, hugging my pillow and twirling around my room, excited for the next time I would see him.
