I watched from the window as my dad had Meena helping him with building our new stage (which was very exciting in of itself) but it was more exciting as the contestants were preparing themselves for the legend herself, Nana Noodleman! I remember my dad talking about her almost my whole life, about what an amazing singer she was, then suddenly she didn't do anymore shows. Everyone assumed she was dead but here she was, coming to the theater to judge our show! I walked downstairs and watched as everyone was working tirelessly to perfect their acts. I felt bad as I knew there really wasn't a $100,000 waiting for them and somehow I knew Nana wouldn't help out. I walked up to the practice room where Johnny was and smiled as I heard him practicing his song, although missing some notes, was doing a wonderful job. That's when he got this long look on his face, rubbing his hands on his face and sighing. I was about to walk in when my dad called everyone into position, that she was here. "Oh hey Jennifer! How're you doing?" Johnny asked as we walked together to the right wing. "I'm doing good I'm excited to see your performance!" I said, smiling and when he smiled at me, I felt fluttering in the pit of my stomach. "Thank you Jennifer, I really hope you and Mrs. Noodleman like it." He said, rubbing the nape of his neck and smiling. We started to quiet down as we noticed my dad start up, the stage was BEAUTIFUL! The squids lighting up the floor he walked on was mesmerizing. I looked up to Nana Noodleman and Eddie to see their reactions and was happy to see they both looked happy! When my dad went to call up Rosita and Gunther, three large and mean looking bears burst through the front entrance and demanded to see my dad. "Which one of you is Moon?" The assumed leader asked, holding Mike in his hand and squeezing slightly. As my dad told them that they just can't come in here like that, he held up Mike and asked if he knew him. My dad said yes and that's when the bear told my dad that Mike owed him money and that Moon had it. I started shaking cause I knew he was talking about the $100,000 and that everyone would find out that the money wasn't really there. As Mike was being squeezed my dad told the three bears to take the whole chest, that it was theirs, but if only it had ended there. They demanded it be opened, that's when the whole cast and I walked out on the stage to watch. Johnny got mostly infront of me and nodded in my direction, motioning me to stay back. "Open it? I-- I-- No, me?" My dad said backing up and jumped when Mike yelled to open it, losing air. When my dad mentioned about not having the keys, they threw Mike and grabbed a bat. "Wait don't!" My dad and I yelled lunging forward when the chest was smashed. "Hey, hey, there you go! Big guy with a bat. Who needs keys, right? All right well let's-- Let's get this thing squared up now, huh?" Mike said when the smoke cleared and everyone really saw what was in the chest. "What the...? That's it? That's all there is?" Mike asked, the realization came upon his face "He lied."
That's when everyone blew up as they realized they were lied too.
"Moon lied to us all!" Mike said
"Well, wait a second. I can explain, ok?" Dad replied
"He's your problem, not me!" Mike said to the bears, point at dad.
"This is a prop-" Dad stated
"So where;s the $100,000?" Johnny asked, looking between my dad and I
"You're kidding." Rosita said angrily.
"Did you know about this?" Johnny said, looking at me with disbelief in his voice.
I felt tears come to my eyes as I nodded, my face turning beat red.
"Are you serious?! What's the big idea?" Ash said, crossing her arms.
"What a big waste of everyone's-" Rosita started to say, throwing her arms in the air.
"This-- This was just--" Dad started to say when we started to hear the sound of glass cracking.
We looked up and in an instant a rush of water came through the theater like a tsunami. Animals started flowing to different places, trying to hang on for dear life. I went under, trying my best to hold my breath. I grabbed onto a pillar and saw Johnny and screamed. He saw me and started to swim to me, grabbing my hand as we were pulled under. He pulled me close and we saw Meena was stuck. Johnny slammed into her and everyone was let loose. Pieces of the theater started to flood the street and everyone was gasping for air. I caught my breath in time to see the theater, my only home. crash to the earth in shambles. I saw my dad kneeling in the middle and I cried. I looked at Johnny and we locked eyes, his reading disappointment. He looked away and I got up, pushing away from him and running to my dad, slamming my knees to the earth and cried with him and Mrs. Crawly. Our home was gone, everyone we started to consider friends hated us and we were now at rock bottom.
