Lazy Day

It's been a few days since the incident and I still haven't come out of my room, deciding that it was much to dangerous to go wondering around, even if it was with a mask on. My dad came by earlier, trying to coax me out of my room and to try and talk to him. Every time I refused, not wanting to face anyone at the moment. I lay in my pink shirt, normal grey joggers and some house slippers on my 'bed' and gazed out the window, watching the clouds slowly dance by in the bright blue sky. My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of soft knocking on my locked wood door. "Jennifer? Are you awake?" I heard my dad asking quietly. I sat up slowly, pushing down my slightly matted hair. "I know you're upset and scared and I'm sorry about that sweetie. I-I'm just worried about you." he said, I started to feel tears in my eyes as I got up slowly and opened the door. I sat down on the floor and watched my dad run up and hug me. "It's not fair dad.." I said slowly, hugging him gently. "I know honey, I'm sorry.." He said, wrapping his arms around my neck and hugging me tightly. "But you're my little girl and all I want for you is to be safe." He said as he pulled back and smiled up at me. I wiped my eyes and nodded to him, smiling softly. "Now come on, I brought us some food." He said, grabbing my hand when I stood up. We walked down the stairs and sat down at a make shift table and started to eat some sandwiches in quiet. Just then Ms. Crawley, who was carrying a coffee mug, and Eddie came in and sat down with us. We all talked about different things, ranging from the competition to just how we were going to get the $100,000. Soon enough I was yawning and excused myself to go to bed. I went up to my room after telling everyone goodnight and flopped on my bed, falling into a peaceful sleep.

~*~ TIME SKIP ~*~

I stayed in my room as I heard everyone down stairs, practicing and talking. I couldn't focus on my book as I kept trying to listen to everyone's songs and finally saved my place and sat the book aside. I slowly got up and walked to my mirror which I had covered with a blanket after I came in here crying, not really wanting to see my face. I grabbed the soft cloth and pulled on it letting it fall onto the floor with a soft thump. I lightly touched my face and slowly examined myself, from my pale skin to my blue/green eyes to my freckles. I was still angry that my dad wouldn't allow me to explore the world but I understood at the same time. He just wanted to protect me, but how would I know that the world would hate me unless I tried? I was too scared to risk it at this point, knowing how close I came to getting exposed last time. That's when I heard some knocking on my door, and my dad calling out to me. I opened the door and crouched down to my dad's level. "Jennifer, are you hungry? I made you some sandwiches and some chips." He said, smiling up at me. I nodded and took the food, then hugged him. "Thanks dad, I don't know what I'd do without you." I said softly, hugging him tightly. He hugged me back and gave me a kiss on the head. "You're welcome, I love you sweetheart." He said holding my face in his hands. "I love you too dad." I said, smiling softly as he walked away and I shut my door. Little did we both know, there was a certain little mouse watching our every move.
