Third Person P.O.V

Y/N Y/L/N had been the object of Taron Egerton's fascination for months, ever since she transferred into his Psychology class.

To him, the day she walked into his lecture hall with her outrageous Y/D/H/C and her missed matched socks, the contents of her half open book bag spilling out onto the floor as she fell ass over head in front of his desk, not to mention the quick witted pun about falling head over heels for him as she blew her hair out of her face and winked to the laughing class above her.

It could be the things she says or does. Her laughter at a comment her friend makes. The sarcastic or sweet comments she makes during the classroom. Whenever she's frustrated and she loses all of her energy, losing that spark she has. That special spark that highlights her personality.

It eluded me; why does she affect me so much and why can't I seem to get her off of my mind?

My best mate Ben has noticed this on several occasions, eventually coming to the conclusion that I just have a huge crush. It'd seem logical, she's a constant thought in my head, the sight of her in school only making that thought run loose. Although every time he'd bring this up, I'd deny the possibility and change the subject.

Despite how fascinating she is to me, she's beyond my league. I stumble with my words whenever we briefly chat. A question as simple as "When was the homework due?" was never as hard to answer as it was with her.

"Oi Egerton, quit staring at Y/N I have something important to show you." Ben's hushed voice interrupts my thinking. I snap my head towards him, his phone showing a picture of-

Me?

I furrow my brows in clear confusion, until he pipes up again. "See this dude, right here?" He asks pointing at the phone dramatically. I nod my head slowly. "He's about to get a punch in the balls for being such a wimp and ignoring his feelings." I snatch his phone, turning it off at the side and putting it on the desk quietly. "Shut up."

He stifles a cackle, nudging my elbow before he finally decides to pay attention to the teacher's ramblings.

"Y/N, please pick a male partner." The teacher instructs, dragging my attention immediately to the girl sitting with her arms folded comfortably. She looks beside her to her mate, I see the two together a lot. "Someone you don't always work with, Y/N." She looks back to the teacher, nodding before she gazes around the room.

I can't help but notice the black and white socks she chose today. She matched them with black converse. Regardless of the fact it shows less colour, it suits her. The zone out I was currently experiencing stopped short when I see she's caught my eye. She stares for a couple seconds longer, before realising herself and turning back to the front quickly.

The teacher continues to pair up students, always a boy and a girl, before going over the assignment and telling everyone to find their partners. Beside me, Ben goes on and on about the girls in the class instantly choosing popular blokes instead of us.

I haven't looked back over to Y/N since we made eye contact, hence making it very confusing to me when Ben's eyes go wide and his head gestures behind me. I shuffle my body in the seat to face black and white socks. My eyes copy Ben's, going wide when I look up to Y/N smiling down at me.

Oh dear lord that smile.

"Hey, I'm Y/N. Uhhh, do you have a partner for the assignment?" She asks rocking on the heels of her feet gently. I find it almost relieving that she introduced herself, knowing she hasn't caught onto my stares.

Well, most of them.

In fear of my voice betraying me, I shake my head with an awkward smile in response.

Well done Taron. Really great job.

"Okay, cool. Would you wanna be partners?" As if my eyes weren't wide enough, they're most likely almost popping out of my head at her proposition.

I don't notice how long I'm seated just staring and staying quiet until I hear a soft laugh and feel Ben flicking my ear. My hand reaches up to swat him away and I see Y/N scratching the back of her head. What're you doing Taron?

"Uh, yeah! Yes, for sure. I'd like that." I can here Ben giggle a little beside me and I facepalm myself mentally at my choice of words. She exhales, smiling briefly before she takes the empty chair from the table next to her and takes a seat at my table. She plops her books down.

"Oh yeah, uhm, I'm Taron by the way." I have to remember the fact that she doesn't know who I am. Y/N nods with a small smile playing at her lips before speaking again.

"I was thinking we could theme ours around music and what it does to the-" The bell interrupts her sentence, sounds of the teacher trying to calm down the students and people rushing to the door replacing those sounds.

"Oh damn. Uhm, are you free tomorrow night?" She sighs, picking her stuff up from the table, not before ripping a piece of paper out from her book. "Me? I- yeah. For what?" I stumble out.

You're on fire today, Taron.

She laughs a little, taking a pen from her pencil case and scribbling something down on the paper. "Well if it's alright with you, I was thinking we could get started on this at my place? I'm free all weekend so for once I might as well dedicate it to actual work." I chuckle at her words, looking down at my fingers fumbling with each other.

"Yeah, that would be nice." I respond, looking back up to her holding out the piece of paper for me. She grins, handing it to me. "Awesome, 5:30 sound good?" I nod my head, maybe too eagerly, and watch her bid a quick goodbye and walk towards her friend waiting at the door.

"Speaking tactics aside, I think you just scored yourself a date!" Ben speaks excitedly as he winks at me. "A study date." I correct, although the mere thought of going to her house excites me a little more than it should.
