Y/N's P.O.V
The clock read 12:04, by now I wasn't sure I'd make it without panicking.
This was supposed to be my weekend. I was supposed to come home after a long week of work to a free schedule, a working fridge and a comfy bed; the only intention in my sights was the unwatched movie section in my cupboard.
I hadn't bothered to check the weather since I wasn't going out and it had been reasonable all week anyway.
You can only imagine my shock to hear the first roll of thunder that night. The roll of thunder that reminded me just how intense my opinion on storms was.
"Y/N?" Taron's voice pulls me from my own mind eating thoughts. I looked over to him sitting beside me on the couch. At the start of the night when I'd ask him to come over, he was sat at the edge of the couch at a completely platonic distance.
But as the night progressed and the storm outside grew, so did his urge to inch himself closer to wherever I was sitting. Almost as if he could sense my current anxiety. Smell it radiating off of me.
"Y-yeah? What's up?" My voice and stutter does nothing but add to the obviousness of my fear, the look on his face telling me this immediately.
"You hadn't spoken a word for two minutes, you asked something and I answered but you've stared at the wall since then in silence." Although loud over the treacherous noise outside, his voice is concerned yet almost comforting.
"I- uhhh," I begin to speak, trying to find the words to describe an explanation without making my voice crack or waver.
"I just didn't expect it to get so... gruesome with the weather tonight, and I'm worried about how you're gonna get home." I spoke in a small voice, probably too tiny in comparison to the raging wind outside. But Taron seems to hear me perfectly.
"I wouldn't worry so much, I'm only across the street, Y/N. I'll just wait until it gets tame out there if that's fine by you and make my way back. Are you sure everything's alright?" He sends a warm smile of reassurance during his reply. I stand hesitantly, deciding a simple gesture of distraction would help my mind to stop wondering.
My gaze moves towards the digital clock beside the TV. Two minutes had passed. The time now read 12:06am.
"Of course, that's always alright with me. Yeah I'm fine, would you like a cup of tea or some wat-" The interruption of my question comes as a loud crack of thunder, followed by an instantly darkened room surrounding us.
Oh god no.
Oh please, please, please don't tell me.
We're in a blackout.
Of course we have to be in a blackout.
The nerves itching at the back of my mind have settled there for the night, I've managed to keep them at bay and hopefully reasonably well hidden. But now they tear against the restraints of my head, and letting them out is the only thing I'm able to do.
An audible gasp leaves my throat, my eyes constantly refocusing at the darkened furniture covering the space around me. My head goes fuzzy and I can't help but feel like I'm being drained of energy.
