Caught in the undertow.

Isn’t it easy to formulate ideas about survival, loss and other insignificant things? How about trying to bring things out of perspective and throwing them in order to make some sort of sense? Too often, people only look at the first coat of paint before forming a conclusion. Too often, people don’t even bother to listen to the other side of the story.

Life works like a painting. See, when you look at it originally, you can make out the color, the hues and shades maybe. It is only if you care to stare it for long enough you’ll notice that with time the outer layers of color fade away, leaving behind the true picture. It is only with time and an awful lot of patience that the amateur coats fall out and the details become crystal.

Although, it might not work like that for everyone. For some, the longer you stare the more confusing it becomes. But there’s one thing for sure, you will have to cut through the depths in order to understand what truly happened.

Now, I won’t tell you one smart thing about how to figure out all your problems, that’s for you to uncover with time. But I’ll give you a gist of everything I have ever thought about, everything I’ve ever learned from my experiences. Try imagining it like you’re climbing a mountain and you’re scared. You’re scared because you don’t want your fate to start a landside and you don’t want to spiral down in an avalanche. You'll be scared because you don't want to get left behind, you’ll be scared for that and you’ll be scared for a number of other reasons. I’m not going to lie to you when I say that fear itself is nerve-wracking enough to make you want to crawl with cowardice but I’m also not telling the truth when I say that ten years from the moment you’ve reached the top, you’ll only remember the view.

Sweetheart, don’t get your hopes down, one day the world’s going to get tired of trying to push you back. Until then, you’ve got to keep breathing, you got to keep rebelling. It’s too risky to remain in bud, it’s too mediocre and you’ve been made to do better things. You need to bloom. But coming out isn’t as easy either. You can’t wait for your opponent to react, in order to make your next move. You’ve got to give everything you have in just one shot. You can’t save up yourself for the future, for all we know there might not be one to begin with.

Can you do that for me? Can you win a battle that you never started? Can you win a fight that was forced upon you? Can believe in yourself just a tad bit more? Do you think you have what it takes? Could you do that for me?

So, brush off the dust from your shoulders, walk with your head held high, keep your pride intact, stand up to those bullies, test your barriers, do what you have to do. Start a riot and give em hell.

Come outside sugarplum, it’s not all that dark.

Come outside, make me proud.
