The man looks at the little girl in his I arms, "sh sh little child, back to sleep..."The woman cries....
He takes the little girl away, mouth covered so she doesn't scream. The little girl weeps silently, watching her mother disappear into the darkness as they walk away.
—I shoot up and look around. How the hell did I get in here? I say, looking around the poker room at the whorehouse. I get up, and drag myself back to my room. Must've had too much to drink. I check my phone for the time.
5:45pm
I need to eat. I might be dramatic, but even if I'm a vampire, I told myself I would never kill another human, no matter how bad my temper is. I don't know what's come over me, those dreams just keep getting worse, I keep getting worse.
I try to fall asleep again, but I can't. So I put on shorts and keep the tank top I've had on for the last few days and walk downstairs. To my surprise, I see everyone gone. I just ignore it and go about my business. I decide that I'll get some food when the sun goes down, so I don't starve to death. But in the mean time, I'll have a beer or two. When I sit at the table with a six pack, Tulip walks in. "I just don't understand what the hell is up with that Quincannon guy. A girl falls in a hole in his land and he doesn't do shit about it. But those girls are stupid too—"
I stop her. "I'm sorry," I say, putting down my beer and rubbing my sore head, "but the what in the hell are you talkin' about?"
"Some girl fell in a bottomless shit pit and the Quincannon guy told them to watch themselves next time... I mean I guess he has a point," she sighs and shakes her head.
"Did she die?" I ask.
She shakes her head again and looks down, "yeah. They're all comin' back here tonight to say a few words about her."
I groan. I hated when events happened here. It puts a lot of attention on me and I end up having it out with someone.

"In the mouth of the foolish is a rod for his back. But the lips of the wise will protect them," one of the girls quoted from the Bible, "where no oxen are, the manger is clean. But much revenue comes by the strength of the ox."
She closes the book and wipes away her tears. Some girls in the back were bawling their eyes out. I sat in the back with a cigarette in my mouth, trying to just stay out of it. "To me, Lacey was just fun," another girls says, "she liked tv and eating and trying on different shoes. What I think I'll remember most is—"
Tulip interrupts her, "what the hell did oxen have to do with anythin' huh? Explain that to me!"
"It's a parable," the girl who quoted the Bible answers.
"It's bullshit is what it is," Tulip answers, looking her straight in the eye, "Lacey wasn't called to Heaven by fairies on a cloud. She was run down by a bunch'o cavemen with pop guns and fell into a bottomless shit pit."
"I agree with her," I add, "what the hell is wrong with you guys? You should know better than to run around in yer god damned underwear gettin' chased like animals."
"Hear that girls? Instead of all this you should be workin' for dollar tips at the strip club," Clive remarks.
I give him a smug look while some of the guys laugh. "Shut your damn mouth Clive," I say back, standing up.
"No you shut yours, Miss Withers. No ones wants to hear you spew bullshit like you're any better than them. Too bad about Lacey, great piece of ass. Boohoo," he says, walking up to me, "you work in a whore house long enough—"
Just as I'm about to rip his ass apart Mosie steps in and tells him its enough and that there will be no fighting. "I'll tell ya what boys. In honor of Lacey and her peaceful ways, the next hour's on the house," she adds.
I stare Clive directly in the eye as the men cheer and move to their rooms. I look at Tulip and Mosie, "I swear to God one of these days I'm gonna—"
Mosie doesn't let me finish, "the temper on the both of you," she shakes her head, "I'm surprised you two aren't sisters."
She walks away and Tulip grabs her jacket and leaves. I hear rock music start to play really loudly from upstairs. And I grab the nearest thing, which happened to be a broken piece of window frame and I run upstairs. Busting open the door, I yell, "take this you son of a bitch!"
And I beat him with the wooden frame and push him out the window. But when I look behind me, Clive is standing there with his girl. I did it again. I run outside to see who it is. "Cassidy?!" I yell.
How could I have done this again? Now I'm going to have another person's blood in my hands. I yell for help and someone helps me bring him to their car and we speed off to the hospital. "Cass I'm so sorry! Oh my god my temper, my awful temper," I plead to him, "can you please drive faster?!"
"I'm trying!" they yell back.
"I thought you were Clive. Stupid, stupid!" I yell, looking down at him, "you're gonna make it Cass I swear it!" looking up again I plead "please God, I know you hate me, just help this poor man please! I'll be good I swear, I'll stop the drugs and I'll confess I'll do anything, please!"
"Then kiss me," Cassidy says.
And so I do. I kiss him hard and well. After a few seconds I stop and stare at him. That's when we arrive at the hospital. I run in with him and yell at the lady in the front desk. "Please he needs help!" I yell at her impatiently.
"Who?" she asks.
I look back and he's gone. When I follow the blood trails I find him in a room with open packages of blood all around and on him. He's drinking it. "You were right love! I think I'm gonna make it," he says with a bright smile on his face.
I stare blankly at him. He chuckles, but I can't stop staring. This can't be true, I'm not the only one? "What are ya starin' at me like t'at for love? Haven't ya ever seen a vampire before?"
I shake my head with my mouth wide open, "N-Not other than me..." I whisper.
I tilts his head in confusion, and we just stare at each other for a while.
