Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy invited me to go eat with them, no one was quite hungry, but Tulip insisted on getting French fries. For the first five minutes, we were all mostly silent; only breaking it through coughs and sighs.
To finally start a conversation, I bring up The Big Lebowski. Who doesn't like that movie right? It was my desperate attempt to get them to say something.
It turns out that Cassidy is not a fan.
"Well, that's it?" Cassidy continues, "that's the endin'? Steve Buscemi dies of a heart attack, they scatter his ashes and go back to bowlin'! I mean what's the bloody point?"
"You know you're the only person on this entire planet that doesn't like that movie?" Tulip snaps back.
"Uh-uh that's not true! It's— it's actually a very controversial film," Cassidy answers.
Tulip then stands up and asks aloud, "who here likes The Big Lebowski?"
Everybody looks over at us and raise their hands and cheer. I laugh, but no one else does. So I play it off with a cough and look around hoping no one noticed what I just did. "Idgits," Cassidy sighs.
Tulip looks at me and then at Jesse, "so what's the plan Jesse?" she asks.
"Well the plan is simple, find God," he says with no hesitation.
I give him a confused look and before I could say anything Cassidy speaks, "no offense Padre but I'm really tired of the God talk."
"I am too. That's why we're gonna go out and actually find God," Jesse answers.
"And how do you suppose we find God?" I ask, with a sarcastic tone towards the end of my statement.
"Road trip!" Cassidy yells, "with buckets of guns, sex, drugs and shady characters dressed in bikinis?"
Me and Cassidy both chuckle, "well you guys have fun finding God. In the meantime, I have to find a new place to stay," I say, getting up to leave.
Whatever it is they were planning, I'm sure they had no room for me to come along. I pick up my jacket, but Cassidy stops me from picking up the umbrella, "now wait a minute, hold on! You're comin' too Dezzy!"
I chuckle a little bit.
"So we're just gonna Drive around, drinkin', lookin' for God?" Tulip asks.
"I'm so in! And little one here has to come too!" Cassidy shouts.
"What are you gonna do when you find him?" Tulip asks, sort of ignoring Cassidy.
"Welp... if God wants out help, we'll help him. If he doesn't... we're gonna kick his ass," Jesse answers blankly.
We all stop for a minute, and Tulip nods, "hm... alright bitches, lets go!"
She picks up her keys and walks off, "you too little one," she yells to me sarcastically.
I laugh a little and walk with Cassidy, "you know, I've been having some weird dreams lately. Maybe I'll finally find out what they are on the trip!" I say, only slightly joking.
"Who knows what we'll find on this trip! Hopefully some new drugs, I'm gettin' bored love!" he laughs, walking out under an umbrella with me.
We get into the car while Tulip and Jesse talk behind it. "Maybe I'll find out who my real parents are," I say, thinking out loud.
"You don't know your real parents?" Cassidy asks, looking at me confused.
"Nope, Mosie found me on the doorstep. Just a small, innocent baby," I answer slowly, recalling the people I remember from the dream.
