The next day or so I spent drowning my sorrows at bars and clubs. I didn't go to see Cassidy because I didn't want to look at the kind of pain that he was in. I spent just about all of my remaining money on just drugs alone, because how else could I deal with this sort of situation? The one friend I have is practically dead and I'm homeless! But, in these bars, I kept hearing the most bizarre things. At first I thought it was the drugs, but then I kept hearing about how the preacher is gonna call heaven to talk to God himself. Absolute bat shit crazy accusations. "The preacher's gonna denounce him in front of everyone!" some random guy next to me yells, "a god damn preacher is gonna denounce God!!"

I feel myself grow tired, and tired, and more tired.

-
"She sure is a beauty ain't she?" the man says, looking at a much smaller man next to him.

The sound of cries comes from afar. "She sure is Jodie!" the smaller man answers, "can I have her?"

The baby cries louder with every second, screaming for her crying mother.
-

I shoot up sweating. I look around confused and notice that I'm in a jail cell. Running my very sore forehead, I calm myself down.

Jodie. How do I know that name?

"Mornin' love! Looks like you were having quite the dream huh?" a familiar voice says from across the cell.

I stop and look at him confused, "am I dreamin' or something?"

He laughs at me, and continues talking to the man dressed like an Indian next to me. So, I was dreaming.

The sheriff calls the weird Indian dressed guy out so he can go and walks off. I walk to Cassidy and slowly reach out to his face so I can confirm that he's actually there. He laughs at me, "trust me hun I've been in your little shoes before, I'm real and so is this piss smellin' jail!"

I let out a sigh and laugh, "I've been on at least three different drugs for the past 40 hours Cassidy!"

Right when I lean in to kiss him the sheriff interrupts us, "Time to go Dez. Try stripping at work this time."

"Well what's the fun in that sheriff?" I laugh.

Turning back to Cassidy to say one more thing, the sheriff clears his throat; a gesture meaning fuck off.

I sigh and walk off, "I'll see you around Cass."

"Meet me at the preachers place in a few love! That's when it's all happening!" I hear him yell.

Laughing to myself, I walk off. Knowing I had nowhere else to go, I decide to head to the church now to see if the preacher needs any last minute help.

When I get there, everyone seemed as if they were on a big, important mission. Preacher was up front with a severed hand and a weird lunch box looking thing. Tulip was drilling in a board into the floor and I notice Donnie's wife (with a bruised nose) now talking to the preacher. I walk up to Tulip and all she does is sigh at me. "I'm not here about the past day or two, I just wanted to know if you guys needed any help," I say apologetically.

"Sorry the stripper portion of today's sermon was cut out. Go somewhere else," she snaps back.

"Tulip I was—"

"On what this time? Crack? I don't care, just find someone else to bother."

"Dez!" the preacher shouts of joy.

I look at him surprised, "hi preacher, I came to see if you needed help, but—" he stops me from continuing.

"Of course we could use lots of it! How about you finish up sweeping," he turns to Tulip, "you go ahead and start putting up chairs!"
