It was a couple of days later and now your mum was forcing you to go to work. "You can't avoid him forever," she had said. Her words resounded in your head as you sat on the train, turning up your music to drown out her voice.
You did have to go to work though, there were only so many days you could miss before you got so behind on your work for BTS' comeback.
You stepped into the BigHit building with a rapid heartbeat and a lump in your throat as you made a beeline for your office. The lights were off so you knew Yoongi wasn't in there, and when you sat down in your chair, you exhaled a sigh of relief.
You opened up your computer and did a few menial tasks like replying to emails and adding the comeback official dates into your calendar.
But you couldn't really focus as you were so preoccupied looking through the window in the door every time someone walked past.
So instead you put on your headphones and started polishing the remaining tracks for the comeback. The sound of Yoongi's voice made you gulp hard but you blinked away the tears of his pained face from the last time you saw him, and you tried to be productive.
A few hours later, the door opened and you were so engrossed in your work you had no time to overthink anything.
You took off you headphones and leaned away from the desk, greeted with a slightly sweaty Yoongi.
"Ah, you're here," he muttered, quietly.
You smiled slightly, "It was about time." You chuckled and then looked down into your lap at your poor attempt at easing the mood.
"I just came to get my water bottle, I left it in here," he said as he walked over to his desk, beside yours, grabbing his water bottle and heading for the door again.
"You're not in the studio today?" You asked.
"Nah, we're working on choreo all day today," he explained and you nodded.
The awkward silence crept upon you like a choking fog as you both avoided all eye contact. Silence never used to be awkward with Yoongi...but you had changed things now.
He sighed and then said, "Well, better go. Don't want to disturb you."
You were about to say he wasn't disturbing you, but he had already left. You were left, staring at the door, eyes filling with tears again. If that's how it felt to be walked out on, it's no wonder Yoongi was being cold. You had done it to him twice.
You wiped the tears before they had a chance to fall and sighed, putting on your headphones and getting back to amending the tracks according to Bang-Si Hyuk's notes.
You didn't feel like eating all day, so it shocked you when you checked the clock and it was already 5:45. Not eating does sort of make you lose track of the day.
You sat back in your chair and rubbed your face for a moment, realising you had been sat at this desk for almost eight and a half hours. But you had been very productive, so you sent your amended tracks to the manager, letting him know you only had one more to do.
You hit send and gathered your things to leave. As you stood you felt your legs almost buckle after being so short of energy.
You took a deep breath and left the studio, turning off the lights as you left. But as the door shut behind you, you bumped into Lina.
She was dressed in a crop top and sweatpants, looking very cool, but you'd never tell her that. She must've just come from the practice room as she was also a little sweaty, but she somehow made it look seductive. If that had been you, you knew you'd look like a pig on a roast.
"Oh hi!" She mumbles, her voice not trying to hide the awkwardness in the air.
"Hey.." you mutter back as you walk along the corridor, walking slightly behind her.
"How're you?" She asked, although you knew it was kind of mandatory.
"I'm..alright. You?" You ask, trying not to grimace at how awkward this was.
"A bit tired. Spent all day teaching the boys the choreo, I swear it gets harder every comeback." She laughs fakely and so do you, trying to sound genuine.
You both reach the elevator and she pushes it and you both realise you have to spend at least the next couple of minutes together as the elevator takes quite a while.
Suddenly, a phone ringing brings you out of the awkwardness and you hold back from audibly sighing that her phone went. That was until you realised who it was.
"Hey baby, how are you?" You froze, waiting for conformation that it must be Tai she was on the phone to.
"I'm just leaving now." A pause. "It was great, all the boys loved the choreography, thanks for helping me with it!"
You sighed again, realising it definitely was him. You shifted, uncomfortable.
She giggled in a way that forced you to have to hold back a retch and then she said, "Okay, we can go tonight?"
"What flavour are you going to get? My favourite's cookie dough." She giggled again, "Oh Tai you're so predictable."
Your eyes widened as you realised what they were talking about. The ice cream place on the corner of your block had always been your favourite place to go together. But now it must be their new favourite place.
You tapped your foot, desperate for this elevator to reach you before you burst.
"Alright honey, well I'll see you when I get home. What kind of surprise?" She giggled again and that was all you could take as you turned on your heel and made a beeline for the toilets. You couldn't take on more second of this. Not only did she call it home, but you did not want to hear what this surprise was.
As soon as you got there, you checked that it was empty and sat on the ground by the sinks, letting the emotion wash over you. You didn't realise how replaceable you were. And now you knew Yoongi was going to replace you too.
You scolded yourself for thinking you had gotten through your first day without any breakdowns.
Forty-five minutes later and you got up, desperate to go home now.
But as you walked out of the ladies, yet again you bumped into someone. Hoseok. But he wasn't alone. Ahead of him was Yoongi. Oh crap.
"(Y/N)! You're back!" He exclaimed, pulling you in for a hug. "how you been?"
You smiled and nodded, "Not too bad, not too bad." You muttered.
"You leaving now?" You nodded. "Ahh you can share a lift with me and my hyung." You looked over at Yoongi, who, hesitantly, made eye-contact with you. He frowned for a second but then his face went back to neutral before he nodded.
God, couldn't you leave this building without having to share an awkward moment?
You smiled as Hoseok rambled on and on, but as you all stepped into the lift, he was quiet for a moment.
You pressed the reception floor and Yoongi pressed the car park level, and you made eye contact again for a second before looking away again.
"Yeesh, you two really need to talk this out," he said.
"Hoseok," Yoongi scolded him, but he ignored him.
"No seriously. (Y/N), please talk to this hyung, he won't quit moping and to be frank it's driving me crazy," Hoseok explained.
"Thanks for the support," Yoongi mumbled ironically, making you chuckle.
"I'm not kidding, you two are both moping around like two tortured souls when all you need is a conversation. Now, cowards, make it happen. We have a comeback to focus on." As he finished his ramblings, the lift dinged with and the doors opened onto the car park level.
"(Y/N), why don't you sit in Yoongi's car and just chat. Just for little while, it could do you both some good," he suggested, wandering out of the lift.
Yoongi looked at you and you looked back. "I'm up for that if you are?"
Hoseok looked at you and put two thumbs up, nodding his head fervently.
You looked between them both and then said, "Alright. You do deserve an explanation."
You got out of the lift and Hoseok walked in a different direction calling out, "See you two tomorrow!"
You followed Yoongi to his car and awkwardly shuffled into his passenger seat.
He got into his seat after you and then you were both staring out of the windscreen. Almost as if watching a movie, but all it was was actually just the two of you listening to your inner monologues.
"I should explain," you started, bravely.
