(If you've never read my stories before, just know that this is the ninth installment in my series! The eighth is Supernatural: The Last Sacrifice!)
Then
Crowley reached into his coat and pulled out the First Blade. He put the blade into Dean's hand and laid them both on his chest. "Listen to me, Dean Winchester. What you're feeling right now, it's not death, it is life. A new kind of life; open your eyes, Dean. See what I see, feel what I feel. Let's go take a howl at that moon." Crowley stood back and watched as Dean's eyes fluttered open, fully black.
Now
Seven weeks later
"Where's Crowley," Sam demanded. It's been seven weeks since anyone's seen Dean's body. They didn't know what to think. Dean's body was just gone, the only thing left was a note addressed to Sam.
When Sam had found it, he hid it from everyone. He didn't know why, but the note seemed personal. It was no doubt Dean's handwriting. It read let me go Sammy. Sam couldn't believe it; how could Dean have written it if he was dead?
The absences of Crowley and Cashmere led Sam to believe that they had something to do with his disappearance.
The loss of Faith has been devastating on everyone. She was the one who held everyone together, who showed no fear when everyone knew she should've been. No one felt guiltier about losing her than Cass. When Faith died, they weren't exactly on the best of terms. Now that his stolen grace was fading, he was slowly deteriorating. Gabriel tried his best to help him, but it was just a matter of time before Cass died.
Two weeks ago, Sam and Cass captured a demon, hoping to extract Crowley's location from him, but the demon escaped the devil's trap. Sam ended up with a dislocated shoulder which resulted in the immobile use of his right arm for the next couple of weeks. Sam didn't blame Cass for what happened, but a small part of him knew it was his fault. If anything, Cass should've made sure Sam would walk away unhurt.
Today, Sam had captured another demon with Gabriel's help. They brought the demon to room 7B and placed her in the chair sitting in the center of the devil's trap.
"I don't know where Crowley is," the demon answered.
"Well someone has to know," Sam retorted.
"Hell is a disaster," the demon said, "the king and queen are missing. Abaddon's dead and a Winchester is dead while another is missing. Could the rumors be true? Dean Winchester, one of us? Maybe this is hell on earth."
"It won't be hell on earth until I'm dead," Sam assured.
"Really Sammy, you're not much of a threat when you're a cripple are you," the demon asked.
"Do you or do you not know where the king and queen of hell are," Gabriel demanded.
"Even if I did know, I wouldn't tell you," the demon answered, "I'm more scared of Crowley and Cashmere than I am of you."
"That's where you're wrong," Sam answered. The two of them spent the next couple of hours torturing the demon until there was nothing left to torture. They both walked out of the room, leaving the demon's dead vessel in the chair. They went their separate ways, towards different parts of the bunker.
Sam stopped at Faith's room on his way to his bedroom, like he did every night. He looked around her room; it was so much like Dean's.
In the short time that was Faith was actually present at the bunker, she had managed to turn a normal room into her own. Her gear and heeled boots lined the closet like wallpaper. Pictures of her and her brothers were plastered everywhere around the room. One particular picture stood out to Sam however. The picture was placed on her nightstand right next to her bed. It was a picture of everyone, Sam, Dean, Cass, Bobby, Henry, Ellen, Kevin, Jo, Ash, Gabriel, and herself. Sam remembered when they took that picture. It was the night Faith returned to the bunker with her brothers after being held captive by Crowley. It was the night everyone was happy for the first time in a long time. Every time Sam saw the picture, it brought tears to his eyes as it did tonight.
There was nothing more he wished for than to have his brother and sister return home. Sam closed the door to Faith's room and continued to his own. Sam went to bed that night wondering where his brother was. He wondered if his sister had found peace. Little did he know that his sister wanted to go home to him as much as he wanted her home.
******************************************************************************
Time works differently in Purgatory, Faith knew that. She just didn't know how much different. Faith had been running through Purgatory for seven weeks, but to her it felt like years. She didn't understand how Dean and Cass could come back from this place and not be a little screwed up in the head.
Faith knew there was a back door to Hell somewhere in Purgatory, but she couldn't find it. She'd spent all her time looking for the door. If she could get into Hell, she could go back to her brothers. But that seemed like a dream drifting far away.
As she drifted through Purgatory, she wondered what had happened after Dean stabbed her. Faith blamed herself for Dean stabbing her. If she had never given the Mark of Cain to Dean, she wouldn't be here. But every decision has a consequence and she's paying it now.
When Dean had first shared his experience in Purgatory to her, he made it sound like he was always running for his life. Faith had found that her time in Purgatory wasn't quite like that. Every time she approached a monster to ask about the back door to Hell, the monsters ran. She could hear the whispers around her.
"It's the Fairy. She's here. How did she die," the whispers said. Eventually, Faith stopped approaching the monsters and figured she'd find the door on her own.
Finding the door was harder than she expected; she imagined a real door complete with a frame and doorknob, but she wasn't that lucky. She knew that Sam and Dean had come through a hidden door when they rescued John from Hell, but she didn't know what the door was. She knew though that her journey through Purgatory wouldn't be in vain. She'd find the door and return home to her brothers. Even if it's the last thing she does.
