Amara Winters' POV
Officer Styles was a complicated man, but he was also hurt. He went through a lot and hadn't had time to move on from it. The man never got a break and no one else around him seemed to have noticed that. He was just as human as everyone else, but people seemed to forget that. And that was a shame."Look, I'm sorry for my misjudgment about you. I immediately shut everyone out of my life and I hate it. But you seem like a great woman, and I hope you can forgive me for my rudeness over the last couple of weeks." Styles said, catching me completely off guard. He was actually apologizing. He was actually being decent towards me.
"Of course I do, I mean I get why you don't trust people as fast, with everything that happened to you. But talking about it is good, and you can always talk to me." I smiled ad he smiled back.
"Shall we just start over?" He suggested and I nodded, smiling.
"Hi, I'm Harry Styles, I'm an officer at this police station. I solve cases and arrest criminals." His dimples showed as he smiled while speaking. He was actually really beautiful.
"Hi, I'm Amara Winters, I'm an officer as well and I solve cases. I just moved here three weeks ago." We shook each other's hands before Harry, whose name I now knew, turned towards the board. I smiled and turned away, walking towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Harry asked, making me turn around.
"I'm letting you work on your case," I said in an obvious but kind tone.
"But I can't do it alone, it'd be kinda weird if my partner left while we're working on the case." He smiled, making me frown.
"Partner?"
"Yeah, welcome to the case Amara, will you be my partner on the case of this horrible serial killer?" Harry asked and I smiled, tears almost appearing in my eyes.
"Yes, of course I will!" I squealed, throwing my arms around Harry's neck. He laughed and hugged me back. We soon pulled out of the hug and he placed the coffee mug on the table.
"You know what, I'll be right back okay?" Harry asked and I nodded. He left the room and suddenly Jane walked in.
"Ooh, why are you and Styles being so smiley and happy?" She asked, smirking.
"He asked me to be his partner on the re-opened case about the serial killer case." I smiled and Jane's eyes widened.
"He actually asked you to be his partner? He hasn't worked with someone since Horan!" She exclaimed and I nodded.
"I guess I broke through his determined shell of loneliness." I chuckled and Jane joined me.
"Well keep me updated." Jane smiled.
"About Officer Styles and I or the case?" I asked and she winked before turning around and walking away.
"Hi, Styles."
"Hello, Turner." I heard before Harry entered the room with a big pile of files in his hands.
"This is all the information Niall and I collected before..." he trailed off and took a deep breath, "he died." He said and I felt proud, he was admitting it. The first step to accepting his friend was gone.
We were making progress.
