THIS IS ITTTT THE LAST DAAYYYY
THE DAY
I
WON
*confetti*
*clears throat*
f'real i can not believe I wrote 50,000 words in one month. Unless I find a story idea and characters that slap hard, I could probs never in a million years do something like that again. The story does continue after this. I didn't write every day, and a lot of the parts are a lot shorter, but I continued writing it all the way till June 8th of the next year. It actually gets a lot more juicy eventually. Another friend who was doing this and who I'd do word sprints a lot (authoraesthete Ithildaeforever, love you guys) told me on that day that she'd run out of story to tell and had to fill in some stuff to reach the word count and like... huh. imagine not having weird thought processes on writing your story, and knowing what you're doing, and being able to start and finish a whole story in a month. ridiculous. Anywho
THE WINNING DAY (I still have NaNoWriMo's email notifying me of my success in my inbox from like three years ago. I will hold onto that email till the day I die, probably)
She washed her hands in the basin in her room, all the while wondering what on earth Iphnis was doing here. She was now positive that the thing she would find out was Karayan being here.
Gurl I wonder what he's doing there too. Looking back on this novel, I have some options for interpreting my random story decisions. Disregard it because it's dumb, or actually put some thought behind it and make it make sense. I like the latter. Spur of the moment, un-cognitive ideas can sometimes be quite inventive.
She finished washing her hands of the blood and looked in her full length mirror to make sure that all traces of blood were gone from her appearance. Satisfied, she went back out and to the library. She picked up the book about Gnomes and started reading again, hoping to retain some semblance of normalcy for this day. She read until lunch, and afterwards, Nynesi asked her to join her and Naksul on a ride around outside the city. Miryanna agreed and went to the stables to get her horse ready after changing into riding clothes.
She knew there were stable boys and grooms that could get her horse ready for her, but she wanted to do it herself. She'd been reunited with Harrod, but she just didn't feel the same kinship with the mare as she once did. She's had some great experiences with the horse, and she still loved her, but Dustu reminded her of the mountains and how beautiful they were and how much she loved them. And besides that, she and Dustu had been on hunting and scouting trips together, and it was him that had carried her to the mountains and back again.
While saddling Dustu, Karayan also showed up.
"Strong independent young woman?" He said as he slipped the bridle over his horse's ears.
Miryanna started at his words. She groaned. His horse was stalled next to hers. Perfect. "You could say that," She replied stiffly.
"The mountains really toughened you did they? I'll tell you that it was pretty easy to discern that you went up there to join the Erglis. Would you mind telling me where exactly it is?" He asked.
duuuuude you have resources just send some search parties up there for pete's sake
She snapped around to glare at him over the wooden stable wall. "Listen. Just because we're sharing a little secret doesn't mean I like you. I still think you're the most twisted and disgusting man I've ever had the displeasure to meet. You won't be able to winkle whatever you want out of me." She turned back around and tightened the girth.
She's very good at winkling
"Oh, and about that little episode in the library," He continued, "Who was that? A friend of yours, obviously, but who? Someone you met in the mountains?"
Miryanna wasn't going to grace that question with an answer.
"Fine, be sullenly silent. Sulk for all I care. I..." He was cut off by Nynesi's entrance.
"Hey, guys!" She greeted them brightly.
and BOOM I enter in my word count, and VICTORY.
Okay, i will shut up about how proud of myself I am that I legit wrote 50,685 words in a month. I think I'm more impressed with myself now than I was when i won.
