Adrien hadn't stopped thinking about the other day with Marinette. He had try to ask her out as they had been spending out of time together and he had been enjoying it but clearly the feeling hadn't been the same. He felt bad because he went and probably ruin his friendship with a girl he was having a fun time with. Adrien never wanted to be that guy who just thought that very girl who talked to him was into him but when the two were talking yesterday, he was having such a great time that words came out. He hated himself for saying that and he understood if she didn't come.

"Adrien!" Alya shouted, pulling him out of his worried filled thoughts. "Have you been listening to me?" She asked and he felt his face flush. Today he had promised his father that they would be going out to the ocean to examine and look over things to get more information. He was leaning against the docks as Alya and Max were getting things ready, all three of them were wearing Agreste Institute for Marine Life shirts along with swim suits and shorts. She sighed. Alya cared about Adrien and she wanted him to be happy but she had seen this all before. He met a girl, he spent all his time with this girl, the girl uses him and Adrien is left heartbroken.

"I'm sorry," Adrien replied, running his hand through his smooth blond hair. "I'm thinking about stuff. What did you say?"

"I said that the weather says it going to storm around 1 pm so we need to get things done quickly," she told him. He nodded his head and started walking towards the boat to help but Alya grabbed his hand pulling him back towards her. "What happened?"

A part of him wanted to lie but he knew that she wouldn't believe him so he just told her the truth. "I think I just ruined my friendship with Marinette," he explained. "I asked her to the party my dad is throwing this weekend, thinking that it would be fun if she came because I've loved hanging out with her this week, and things got awkward. I could tell she wanted to say no but she just didn't want to hurt my feelings. Adrien sighed, cringing a little as he remembered their conversation yesterday.

Alya wrapped her arm around his shoulder, "I'm sure it wasn't that bad." She told him. "You're probably just overthinking it. Besides Marinette is pretty weird, maybe she was freaking out about the party because she is scared she'll embarrass you."

Adrien didn't really believe her and thought that she was probably only saying this to make him feel better but it was working so he just nodded his head. "You're probably right," he said.

"Of course. I'm right." She said, pinching his cheeks. "Now come on! We have to finish getting everything ready and then we can go out and come back as quickly as possible so that we can make to Rose's dinner tonight." Rose was the group's friend, who usually leaded tours around the Marine Center. She was a kind girl who always believed in brighting everyone's day. Every once and a while she would have these dinners and invite people from work over to her and her girlfriend's apartment. They were always nice and cheery so for today, it was going to be a perfect distraction for Adrien.

He looked over the edge of the docks, at beautiful crystal blue ocean before turning away and walking towards the boat, not knowing that under the docks was a blue eyed mermaid swimming under the docks. Marinette didn't mean to be listening. She was swimming through the ocean as since Adrien was going to be gone. Swimming seemed to calm her nerves well at least it did until she came up under the docks, just to take a break and ended up hearing Adrien talk to Alya about her.
