Oh fuck, what am I doing?

Adam paced in his room rubbing his face with his hands.

This was such a bad idea.

He didn't know what got into him. One minute he was thinking of Magdalene and how kind she was to him after all these years then boom! he asked her out on a date. A real date. Once he committed to making this a date, he planned everything after the work calls he finished.

Even if she said no, he would still give her the food but prevent her going to the backyard to see his sad attempt of a date he set up.

Son of a biscuit!

Adam had about an hour to start getting ready before he paced a hole in the floor. Asking her out on a date might have taken a lot of guts to do but he wanted to get to know Magdalene more. She was always there for him when he wasn't for himself. Always taking care of him, patient with him, kind to him when no one else would be.

He was nervous to explore what was going on between them but he didn't want to give any impression that he only did this for a 'thank you for taking care of my family while I was losing it' date. It was part of it. But the other was just wanting to know more about his sweet maid and seeing how things could be if they explored their relationship a little further.

Shit, he's screwed.

Shaking his head from anymore thoughts, Adam walked into his bathroom, took a shower, and shaved. Afterwards, he walked into his closet and looked at the clothes he hung up, thinking of his choice.

"I hope I don't look like a dud." He grumbled to himself.

After looking through his options several times, Adam decided on gray slacks and a blue dress shirt with white polka dots spotted on them. He left a few buttons undone and slipped on his dark gray dress shoes placing his gold watch on his wrist.

He looked around for his gel and comb, trying to make his hair presentable by slicking it back and parting it to the side. To finish the look, he lightly sprayed his favorite cologne on his wrists and a couple sprays to his neck.

There, he looked nice. Right? It'll do.

Adam walked to the mirror and nodded at his reflection still nervous about his date. He checked his watch and saw it was almost time.

Twenty minutes left.

He walked to the bedside to retrieve his phone and saw a picture frame of Anna on their wedding day on the nightstand. Picking it up with care, he smiled as tears formed in his eyes from looking at his late wife.

She was so beautiful.

Anna had her golden beautiful hair in waves that flowed down her shoulders with a veil laying behind her head. She smiled brightly at the camera while holding her bouquet of white and light blue roses.

The diamond ring on her finger glittered and the white mermaid designed wedding dress fitted her like a glove. Every curve covered in white lace and flowers at the hem of her dress made her look angelic.

Adam would never forget that day, it was the happiest moment of his life to see his glowing wife walk down the aisle with nothing but sweet promises of a future filled with love, laughter, and happiness.

He wiped the tears from his eyes and sniffed. He then placed a soft kiss on Anna's face and set it down.

"I miss you everyday, honey. I love you so much and I don't know what I'm feeling for our maid but I do know you'll always be in my heart."
