When we got to the school, I immediately went in search for my best friend. I found her with her siblings.

Josie grinned, seeing me. "Buttercup!"

"Bubbles." I smiled, happy that I got to see her before I die.

She pulled away. "I'm so sorry about Hayley. I wanted to come to her funeral but I didn't know if you wanted to see me or if you wanted to be alone."

I hugged her tightly. "I'll always need you. I love you, Josie. No matter what."

Her brows furrow. "Are you okay?"

"I am. We have lots to talk about." I said. I glanced at her twin, who wasn't staring at me with hatred, that's a surprise. Nicholas grinned at me.

I grimaced, holding my head in pain. I stumbled.

"Whoa!" Nicholas caught me. "What's wrong?"

I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath. "Just a headache."

"Liar." Lizzie piped up.

"Jack, we promised to never lie to each other." Josie said.

And that's how I spilled everything to them.

After, telling the siblings about me, I had to go meet with Hope and Elijah. I didn't want to be around him.

We three sat at a table outside of Mystic Grill.

"If you're here to tell us my dad has a heart of gold, this is probably the worst spot, considering that there's a plaque inside near the dartboard for some woman that he killed in a moonstone ritual." Hope said.

"Take a look at that storefront across the street with the charcoal awning. Piece of land used to be our home. Smell of it still haunts me to this day. The burning wood, the crushed flowers, the berries. Your father was incessantly painting back in those days. Mixing, searching for brighter reds, for deeper blues. Used to wake me in the middle of the night just to show me the color that he would swear he himself had invented. I remember the first time that he showed me a turquoise. It's also the first time I smelled blood. You see, when Mikael found Niklaus fashioning a paintbrush from a small branch, he took that branch... he struck my brother across the face." Elijah told us.

"That's horrible." I frowned.

"What did you do?" Hope asked.

"Niklaus begged me to run away with him, but I told him that I would never leave Rebekah and Kol at the mercy of Mikael. So we stayed. And, of course, it was a mistake. We should've run away together, but... your father couldn't go alone. But I did swear to him I would protect him from that very day."

"Peanut butter blasted, whipped cream on the bottom." A human named Landon Kirby said. Landon was a nice kid. He served Hope and I all the time. "And chocolate with whip cream on top.

"Thanks, Landon." Hope began to get nervous.

I moaned, drinking some. "My favorite. Thank you."

"Uh, this is my uncle." Hope introduced.

Landon held his hand out for Elijah to shake. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Marshall."

"From her father's side, Landon." I giggled. "Remember, different fathers?"

Landon blushed in embarrassment. "Oh, I-I'm sorry."

"It's okay." Elijah smiled, amused.

"So, Hope. You haven't been around much lately." Landon still looked embarrassed.
