The next day, Hope was all better. Mom and Elijah were taking us to grandma Mary's home. Hope picked some flowers, handing one to me. I giggled, placing it behind my ear.
Hope and I saw grandma Mary.
"Grandma Mary!" We ran into her arms.
"Well, hello, sweethearts." Grandma Mary chuckled. "Oh, my girls. Oh."
"I picked you some flowers." Hope handed them to her.
"Darlings, why don't you run on inside. I need to talk to your mama." Grandma Mary said.
Hope and I shared a look, but did as we were told.

Hope and I went back home. Hope smirked at me, leading me towards the attic. Everyone was busy so we snuck in.
Hope showed me a book of rhymes. "Look." She began to read. "A man of words and of deeds is like a garden fill of weeds. And when the weeds begin to crawl, it's like a bird upon the wall. And when the bird away does fly, it's an eagle in the sky. And when the sky begins to roar, it's like a lion at the door. And when the door begins to crack... it's like a stick across your back. And when your back begins to smart, it's like a knife inside your heart. And when you heart begins to bleed, you're dead, and dead and dead indeed."
"Awesome." I smiled, loving it.
Klaus appeared out of nowhere. "Not exactly the most uplifting reading material."
"It's an old book of rhymes." Hope said. "There's a lot of weird stuff here."
"You know, girls. I'd rather you didn't play here, actually. All the splinters and the dust..." He smiled. "And the bats."
"Liar. There's no bats." I paused. "Right?"
"I've seen no evidence that Elijah doesn't sleep here, hanging upside down." Klaus joked.
"Dad... was there a little boy who used to live here?" Hope asked after we stopped giggling.
Klaus frowned, crouching by us. He took the book, putting it where it belong.
"Come on, sweethearts. We can discuss ancient history another time." Klaus said, helping Hope up.
I climbed to my feet, grabbing the toy Hope and I saw. Hope smiled when she saw me grab it.

"Are you sure we should do this?" I shivered as I followed Hope into the basement.
"I'll protect you." Hope soothed.
I rolled my eyes. "I can protect myself. I don't need you to protect me, Hope."
"I'll always protect you." Hope pushed the door open.
A man turned to us. Who was this man? And why is he in the basement?
"Hi." Hope said while I waved. "I think this is yours."
Hope showed the toy to him.
"Hope." He glanced at me. "And you must be Jackson?"
Hope tossed the toy over the boundary that held the man.
"I haven't seen this in a century." He smiled slightly.
"So, you're the little boy who used to live in my house." Hope stated.
"Once upon a time, I lived here with your dad."
"He keeps you down here because he thinks you want to kill him." Hope said.
"Do you?" I tilted my head, speaking up for the first time. "Want to kill him I mean. Why?"
"Listen, I will tell you anything you want to know. Okay? If you get me some blood from your dad's stash." The man looked at Hope and me.
