"Come on Sol, we about to be late. Zara, keep sprayin' ya hair like that and your ass wont even be able to fit through the door. And Zeze, that plate isnt going anywhere, stop eating. We gotta go yall!" Peaches got on all of us.

I looked at my plate of food in slight sadness because I spent all afternoon toasting the best grilled cheese I ever made in my life. Yall know how hard it is to get that Velvita nice and gooey. Since I probably wasnt moving fast enough, Peaches snatched my plate and throw it in the trash. I shot up in my seat.

"Aye man, what the hell?" I shouted at her, my voice cracking due to that being the first thing I said all afternoon. She just turns and pushes me towards the door, the others following behind. "I dont care, come on. We'll talk about everything in the car."

Once we all were loaded in the car, Peaches put her key in the ignition and twisted it thoughtlessly. The expected sound of the engine running never came, in fact we didnt even here the gas roar. Her eyebrows furrow as she twisted it again and the same thing happened once more. She tried it again and again and again eventually giving up in cursewords.

"We really dont need this right now." Her head falling into the steering wheel.

I leaned back on the window thinking of any way to get to the place we needed to be. We couldnt take the bus because by the time it would get here, the whole diner would be closed. There was no train around here either.

"We could take an Uber." I offered leaning up to theyre seats. They all looked at me like I was crazy or something. "A what?"

Sol nudged my arm and gave an awkward smile. "An Uber? Where did you get that crazy idea?" She lowers her voice and leans in closer to me. "Get your times right!" At first I was confused at what she was talking about until it hit me that my dumb ass was in the 80s and that Ubers didnt come out until two decades later.

And second of all, how does she know? Isnt she from this time period too?

Wait, she couldnt have travled back with me...

"I mean, um we can just take a taxi." I correct myself quickly. Peaches slams her hands on the wheel sighing loudly. "Do you have taxi money?" She snaps.

Suddenly my whole mood just went from yay to nae. I leaned back in my seat again looking at the reflection of my ring in the window. I can not believe this. The one time we have a chance to meet someone thats a somebody, we blow it.

"I just wish we could get there on time." I say more to myself than anything. I see the twinkle in my ring shine in the window, almost blinding me in the process. What the--

"Oh my God, finally!" Suddenly the engine is started properly and the car is running again. Peaches' smile is once again visible. I frown looking at my ring, which was back to the dull ruby color it previously lost. So either that was a coincidence or my ring was on some insideous crap.

The car pulls off with out a warning, determined to get to the destination.

The ring still gleaming in the sun.

When we pulled up to the side of a building, it was like the car holsted us with its last breath; it jolted so hard. I told Peaches a long time ago to get rid of this beat-up-bucket, she calls a car. We'd be dead before we even get inside the building, damn. After compulsing myself, I notice too black figures coming our way. They both were dressed in black and had lowhaircuts. The closer they got to us, the more aggressive they looked. I get Peaches' attention.
