For platform terms of this story, I would like to go into depth in the culture or the "lifestyle" of both Zeena Brown and Michael Jackson. Although, for right now, Zeena's character is going to be the discussion that takes place.

Before I get into any of this I want to make it very clear that I am NOT and I repeat that I am not a Native New Yorker. Yes, I have knowledge on the city from previous studies but I am no expert. So please...don't roast me in the comments if I get some information wrong or explain something the wrong way. I am a Cali-kid, it's all I know🤷🏽‍♀️

Another thing is, I want to make this story as realistic as possible so all the use of "slang" of New York is completely called for in this book, which is why I'm here to explain it to you guys. If some of you get offended some how, please let me know privately and I'll work hard as possible to satisfy your uh...textual needs (Even though this is my book, but...)

Now as we know, Zeena Brown is from New York, The Bronx to be exact. She, her cousin Peaches and her sister Zara, have been through it, so they know how to get around in the hood. Not to mention they picked up a terms in the city to get by.

(When Zeena talks in the beginning of the story, she has a very hoarse, heavy Bronx accent. It really comes out when she gets pissed or passionate, etc)

So these are just a few words used in different situations to help better understand the concept of her point of views.

(Greeting Terms)

1) Was' Good [What's Good] : This could be used to say hi or What's Up to a close friend or relative.

Ex: "Hey, Zeena!"

"Yo, Was' good"

Visual: The "T" in "what's" is not pronounced and the double o's in the word "good" makes a short "U" sound.

2) Yooo, [ Insert Name]: This is normally said to greet someone from a far, typically when you havent seen the person in a while.

Ex: "Yooooo, Zeena! It's been a while."

Visual: The Y is very dragged out and the o's is held out long.

3) It's been a minute : Again, this is said when you havent seen a person in a while or long time.

Ex: "Yooo Z, I ain't seen you in a while."

"Yeah, I know. It's been a minute"

4) Wassup [What's up] : Most know this as a universal greeting to say hello to pretty much anyone on the street.

Ex: "Yo, wassup"
