[This one's for Silvanamaria98, I know you requested it ages ago babe, but it's finally here!

I was partly inspired by the song Strangers In The Night, by Frank Sinatra and the movie The Backup Plan]

"We all live in a yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine..."

The lyrics of the famous and catchy Beatles song chanted in my brain as I walked down the pavement. The English rain was coming down in torrents and the yellow cabs roaming the streets of London did remind me of little submarines. It was a weird comparison but it was the first image that came to my mind as I walked slowly on the wet pavement, careful not to slip and fall on my butt.

The wind was howling, the rain battered the windows and the occasional sound of thunder made me feel like I was in some kind of post-apocalyptical scenery. The sky was pitch black and under the streetlights, you could see people in raincoats and hats hurrying home through the heavy storm that was soaking me to the bone.

Clearly, 5-inch heels and a tight bodycon dress weren't the most convenient things to wear while walking outside in this weather. But I didn't have a choice, I was already running late for my step-sister's wedding rehearsal dinner, which is why I was dressed accordingly.

Since I managed to forget my umbrella at home and it was too late to go back and get it, I'm pretty sure my dress was soaking wet by now, despite the heavy raincoat I was wearing over it. My hair looked like a nest on top of my head and it wasn't hard to guess that the makeup I've spent the whole afternoon perfecting was now completely ruined and made me look more like a scarecrow than anything close to human.

To be honest, there was only one thing I wanted to do at that moment, and it was to head back home, throw my shoes in the bin, get out of that dreadful dress, have a warm 45 minutes bath and cuddle up in front of the TV with a mug of hot chocolate. But my dad would bury me alive if I dared to miss Mackenzie's rehearsal dinner. I already had trouble putting up with my step sister, now more than ever...

Since luck is always on my side, my car had broken down about a week ago which meant it was in repair at the moment...

Ok to be honest it hasn't really broken down, I actually ran into my neighbor's brand new Audi while trying to park last week. I pretty much suck at parking, as one can probably guess. Needless to say, the old man probably cursed me for the next 3 generations. It also earned me a big ass fine as well as repair expenses for both my car and his. Sadly this meant I was gonna have to eat pasta for the rest of the month... yes I was pretty much broke.

I felt like the rain started pouring heavier, if that was even possible. I looked at my watch and cursed, realizing that I was very, very late. I tried to walk faster but my feet were killing me, my breath was coming in short huffs as the shockingly cold air and droplets of water were hitting me with full force.

I had to get into a cab, and fast.

I finally got to the bus stop where I knew I could –sort of– easily find myself a cab, but none of them seemed to want to stop. I waved and called out several times but all the drivers ignored me royally and carried on their way.

This was just my luck really, these things always happen to me, I can't even—

My thoughts were interrupted when I saw a cab finally stopping by. It felt like the hallelujah choir was singing in my head as I thanked God and all angels above. But just as I began walking toward the taxi, I noticed another person, a man, strolling from the other direction, and making his way to the car.
