David grinned and grabbed my hand, leading the way out of the balcony and back into the ballroom.
I saw couples forming around us on the dancefloor, as a slow song had just started.
David's hand unclenched around mine. He stood in front of me, as if asking for permission to finally break the physical barrier between us. Permission I granted gladly by getting closer to him and wrapping my arms around his neck.
The smell of his cologne made me melt as his right hand rested on my waist and his left hand grabbed mine again. Like the many couples in the room, we swayed silently to the sound of Lady Antebellum's Just a Kiss.
It was perfect.
I glanced to my right and chuckled softly at the sight of Sara and Fernando slow-dancing as well, not too far away from us.
My eyes met Sara's for a second and we gave each other that infamous "omg" look, which made me giggle even more. David noticed it and shot me a confused smile.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"Oh no, nothing," I shook my head "It's just...." And I tilted my head, showing him Sara and Fernando mesmerized in each other's eyes.
"Oh..." He just said and giggled too "Looks like Blondie with Freckles thinks your friend's 'a totally hottie' too."
My eyes widened "No way, you actually heard her? But you were in the fourth row!"
"I guess the church is very echo-y" he chuckled "I saw you and your friend up on that altar, chatting the whole ceremony."
"Oh" I blushed.
I swear God god if he only knew what we were talking about...
We just went silent after that, dancing until the song ended and another one began.
I could feel David's eyes on me and it wasn't long before I stopped fighting the urge to look back. His serious face broke into a smile as I felt my face heat up from his piercing gaze.
And then I saw him lean toward me slowly. I froze.
"Wait" I blurted making him pull back abruptly.
"I'm sorry" he looked away embarrassed "Too fast?"
"I'm sorry I just..." I stuttered.
I felt like kicking myself at that moment. Why did you do that Lily? WHY?!
"I'm sorry David" I muttered, what a way to make things awkward.
"Don't apologize" he said softly "It's my bad"
Gosh he makes me feel like a little girl.
"I just don't want to rush things" I muttered "I like you, a lot, and..."
Oh my god did I just say that out loud?
"I like you a lot too" he said softly.
"You do?" I asked not realizing how stupid I sounded.
"Of course," he nodded "Why else would I try to kiss you?"
If someone had told me that Soul Patch Guy would be saying something like that by the end of the night, I would've honestly laughed at their faces.
