Author's Note: Hey guys! This is my very first story called Delicate. I'm not finished with it yet, and I'll be writing more chapters as soon as I can. If you would like to share any ideas for another story, then feel free to comment. Meanwhile, enjoy!

I walked briskly down the dimmed hallway. Everything seemed to be so vacant, silent, and mysterious as if I were inside a haunted house. Every door was closed with no light appearing in the cracks, and the only source of light that seemed to be in the building were the exit signs glowing right over the back doors.

I liked it this way... to have some peace and quiet. I mean, sure it would be creepy, but it's nice to just sit on the stairways and just think about life. It seemed to be the only thing that would calm me down over a bad, stressful day.

The lights blinked rapidly, and I zipped my head at the source of light. A fly was violently slapping itself on the sign desperately, as if it were the only way to escape.

I sighed and quickly went to my room that has only a metal bed, a metal drawer, a worn-down tv, a table, and a window. They said that if I ever needed or wanted anything, tell them, but I guess that getting adopted wasn't an option.

"Aria Summer" A voice spoke so suddenly that I jumped from my bed. I recognized the voice. It was Samantha Rodriguez, my... how do I say this, the-person-that-is-in-charge-of-my-life-until-I-get-adopted.  She had shoulder-length chocolate brown hair, a crisp smile, bony fingers, hazel eyes, and an emotion that says you will never want to annoy her. Sometimes she could be quite scary.

I bowed my head toward her direction and looked up at her. Usually I would always see a snotty face as if somebody had just "accidentally" spilled a cup of coffee on her face, but instead, she smiled warmly.

Samantha clutched a clipboard against her chest like a stufffed doll and sighed freshly, "Are you ready to meet your new family?

My heart leaped. A new family.... a new family... a new family. I kept repeating it in my head until it didn't even make sense anymore. I have waited 14 years to be adopted, and now hear I am, meeting my new family! I wondered what they would be like, how they were going to treat me....

I ran toward Samantha and took the clipboard from her. I shakily grasped on the pen she gave me and slowly wrote my name on the line that said "Signature".

I slowly gave it to her. Samantha smiled and hugged me, congratulating me in this important news.

"Alright, let's go" she continued, "first things first, you have two brother, and one baby sister. The oldest brother's name is Joseph, the youngest's name is Eric, your baby sister is Summer Jackson. Your parents' names are Allyza Jackson, and Stephen Jackson... now, come right this way..."

I followed her through a maze of staircases, halls, offices, and then finally, the common room.

"Our assistant Josh will be getting your luggages and things down with you soon. For now, meet your new family, and wait for Josh to come back. You and your parents will have ot sign a few papers to confirm and you'll be on your way" Samantha explained brightly.

I nodded, and thanked her for everything she's ever done to me.

I slowly walked toward the common room, ready to meet my new family... the Jacksons.
