>>Invitation<<

I fidgeted with the miniature clock in my hands. The constant tick tock of it was starting to irritate me. It felt like I had only minutes before Jackie was going to possess me and that didn't put me in a comfortable position.

Biting my bottom lip, I set down the clock and lied down exasperatedly.

"What's up with you?" Joseph called while typing swiftly on his huge computer. "Nothing..." I murmured and covered my face with my hands. I felt like I had a huge headache.

"Welll.... doesn't sound like nothing to me. What's wrong?" He asked. "It's complicated" I replied.

"Doesn't sound like nothing to me"

"You're really stubborn y'know that right?" I snapped, but felt bad afterwards for snapping at him. What he did surprised me, he smiled calmly.

"You're frustration won't get you out of this... but to cheer you up..." He stood up from his luxurious desk, jogged over to his huge drawers and rummaged through it.

"Eh, that was a long time ago... whoa, better not show mom my report card... Oh, god, I miss the old days... Ah, here it is" He pulled out a blue envelope that had a scent of flowers that filled the room.

Raising my eyebrows, I took it and opened it. Inside was a letter, of course, but it looked like an invitation.

Hello Jackson family! We have invited you to our Midnight Masquerade Ball hosted by Lily Rubie. It will take place at the Leviosa Museum, I'm sure you will know where that is.  The ball starts at 9:30 pm tomorrow night and will continue through midnight! Please wear gowns of any kind that has dark colors representing our theme: Midnight. Do not forget to bring a mask signed with your name at the back. We would really appreciate your prescence at the ball and hope to have a magical night there. Thank you!

I stared at the invitation in delight. A ball? I've never been to one but I've seen the dresses, I would love to wear a gown.

"When was this sent?" I asked curiously, staring at Joseph in shock.

"Mom gave it to us two days ago, I figured to wait until the day before so you would have something to look forward to rather than this boring mansion, right?" He scoffed and returned to typing on his computer.

The day seemed to go by slow, only because I couldn't wait to go to the ball. The family already began picking out gowns and suits they wanted to wear for the ball. Of course, my closet has all I need.

I stepped inside the ginormous room and scanned my eyes around for gowns. Thinking thoughtfully, I remembered the dress i wore at dinner... I'm sure that's where all the gowns are.

I walked toward the dress column and rummaged through the dresses. Most of them were simple, some of them looked as if I were going to a wedding, and finally... I found it.

The gown was a maroon color, it ended right on the ground, huge flowers were shaded the top area and it continued down, getting smaller until the bottom. The sleeves weren't very long, it ended right at the elbows and drooped about the height of a notebook.

Admiration took over me as I took the dress and began to dress. I felt confident about this.

As I was done, I looked at the mirror and sighed satisfied. The dress fit perfectly and it also felt soft, comfortable.

I twirled around and the dress obeyed me as it went along. It felt like my other dress that I wore, only, more controlled.

Walking slowly toward my desk area, I began to put on a small bit of makeup. Applying a bit of non-feeling, red lipstick, and an eyeliner. I bit my lip to test the lipstick and found that it didn't get off. It was perfect, it looked natural. I made my hair up in a messy bun and looked at the mirror. No. The bun seemed way too messy. Thinking, I decided to let it free and it bounced onto my shoulders. Some of the hair went in the band and some were at the front.

"You look pretty" A tiny voice said quietly at the doorway. I whirled around and found Eric standing there sheepishly.

Smiling, I gestured him to come and he obeyed, walking elegantly-must have inherited it from Allyza.

He hopped onto my lap and explored the makeup laid on the table.

"Where?" He asked, his eyes full of curiosity. He pointed his fingers at the makeup then began thumb-sucking.

"Hey, don't do that, you're a big boy now, Eric" I said and took his thumb out of his mouth as he whimpered.

"I don't know where I got all this makeup, I guess Mom got them"

"Mommy is nice" He nodded and hopped off from my lap and ran to the door, smiling.

I smiled and looked at the mirror again.

        "Ready?" I asked myself.
