Kaminari and Sero both screamed as a gigantic, shadowy bird demon burst out of nowhere. It's gleaming, sharp beak opened as it let out a terrifying call.
"TOKOYAMI!!!"
Suddenly, the bird demon's golden eyes thinned, as if it were thinking, before it retreated towards the light.
Kaminari and Sero watched as the shadowy demon returned to the heart of it's guardian. A strange man, the two noticed, for he had a bird's head instead of a human's.
However, it was not the strangest thing they'd ever seen.
The man was wearing a dark cloak, and his eyes were wide with shock- and maybe a bit of fear. He put a nervous hand on his forehead as if he had a headache.
It was then that somebody ran up to him, immediately putting their hands on his shoulders and apparently asking him something. From where Kaminari and Sero stood, the newest addition to their unusual meeting looked frantic.
He had a sort of coat with no sleeves that flew outwards at the end, as well as dark pants and high boots. At his sides were two swords, and a dark mask covered the lower half of his face. Not only that, but he had two extra sets of arms connected by some sort of webbing.
"Er...what's up?", Kaminari asked, starting to walk over. Sero, still holding on to Kaminari's hand for dear life, stumbled over his own feet as he followed.
The two men exchanged surprised glances, and the one with the mask turned to them and asked,"What...what are you doing here?"
"There was something out there", Kaminari continued, gesturing towards the entrance to the cave,"Not sure what...but it was kinda after us. We needed to hide, so uh...yeah. What's your deal?"
The masked man turned to the bird man, who nodded emotionlessly. Then the masked man spoke up,"What are your names?"
"I'm Denki Kaminari-", Kaminari introduced himself with a slight bow, and then used his free hand to point to Sero,"-and this is my best friend, Hanta Sero."
The masked man nodded and replied,"I am Mezo Shouji. This is Fumikage Tokoyami. We live here."
"Oh-", Sero apologized, realizing how rude they must have seemed,"Sorry to barge in like that, then..."
"Apologizes for Dark Shadow", Tokoyami finally spoke up, and the two simultaneously shrugged as if it was no big deal.
"Is that what that thing was?", Kaminari asked, raising a curious eyebrow.
"Yes.", Tokoyami explained,"Dark Shadow is the demon bird that remains trapped within me. I am it's eternal prison. However, it can do...well, that. Here, it is secluded, so I may learn how to control it to a point where it cannot harm the innocent...or so I thought."
"Alright", Kaminari nodded, then pointing at Shouji,"So what's his deal, then?"
"I cannot control Dark Shadow alone.", Tokoyami declared, then taking Shouji's hand- well, one of his hands- in his own,"And I would never go anywhere without the one I love."
Shouji's face went red under his mask as he added a little awkwardly,"I'll step in and help Tokoyami if Dark Shadow gets too out of control. Also...I didn't want him to hurt himself...I love him too much to let that happen."
Sero smiled faintly at them and nodded. They must've cared about each other a lot if they were both willing to stay in an isolated, dark cave together and attempt to control a ravenous demon.
Sero mentally sighed as he realized he probably wouldn't be confessing his love anytime soon.
Not while he was on this quest, anyway.
