"Denki, there's a dragon on the outskirts of town. It's already burned down several other villages, so I and a few others are going to scare it away to prevent any further harm to the people. I'll be back soon."

"But...but Daniki, it's dangerous! You know how scary those dragons are!"

"Don't worry, Denki. I'll be back."

---

Kaminari woke up with a start. There was a pale white light shining in through the window of his cottage, and his blankets were on the floor. He guessed he'd thrashed them off in the night.

He half-fell, half-rolled out of bed, rubbing his tired eyes. He was sick of the nightmares. Sick of the memories. Sick of everything.

He walked outside to get the first glimpses of dawn. It had to end; all of it.

He hated reliving the day Daniki, his older brother, had left to battle with a dragon. Even after his promise...Daniki had not come back; and he never would again.

Kaminari viciously shook his head, attempting to forcefully clear it of his treacherous thoughts, before nodding to himself.

"Today's the day", he muttered to no one in particular,"Today it is the beginning of the end."

An awful hatred had been brewing within Kaminari since the death of his beloved older brother at the retched claws of a dragon. Since that day, he had been preparing; preparing to leave his village and head towards the center of it all.

Head towards the lair of the King of Dragons.

Head towards the Apex Talon.

Not only that, but more and more dragons, monstrous creatures and such-like had been appearing around the country; Kaminari had heard the townspeople speak of it.

For Kaminari, it was a sign. His quest for revenge was about to begin.

After the last of the night's cold had awoken him and the sun and dissipated the last of the morning mist, Kaminari returned to his cottage and gathered his supplies.

Rations, water, some light armor, and ah yes, his favorite hat, the one with the feather tucked into it. Daniki had told him the tale countless times of when he had slain a great bird demon and put one of it's feathers in that very hat.

Kaminari frowned slightly, but there was no time to think of that now.

Lastly, Kaminari grabbed all of the fang-toothed knives that he brother had used to fight off dragons. Kaminari remembered everything about them quite clearly.

They were made from the teeth of a Storm Dragon, sharped to a deadly needle point and then attached to a hilt made of said dragon's hide. The biggest knife, made from one the Storm Dragon's slightly golden, electricity conducting canine fangs, was the most special of them all.

Kaminari had several; or rather, a lot; of these knives. Dragons had a lot of teeth, after all; but he only had one of the Storm Dragon's canine teeth.

The canine tooth of a Storm Dragon can summon the power of lightning if plunged into something, and then that lighting will shock anything and everything that that particular blade touches before spreading to the other, normal blades.

So basically, stick the kinda golden knife into something, and everyone with a normal blade in or on them will get electrocuted. The canine blade will also electrocute anyone within a certain vicinity of whoever has stuck the blade in something- or someone.

Kaminari's older brother had used these blades to take down the strongest of foes, but in the end, they had not been enough.

Kaminari's grip tightened on the blade as he murmured,"I'll kill the King of Dragons with this very blade, brother. I will avenge you."

He nodded to himself before slipping the knifes into his coat, boots, and even the tiniest one beside the feather in his hat. He was ready.

He walked out of his cottage and took one last sorrowful look at it; memories of him and Daniki eating sandwiches on the roof, Daniki teaching him to use the knives, and the two of them attempting to make dinner together without setting anything ablaze.

The better times.

Kaminari smiled faintly before turning and walking away. It didn't take him long before he was outside the village; it was pretty small, but it was pleasant there; and atop a small hill.

Even from that distance, Kaminari could see the shadows of the Apex Talon ahead of him. No, not just the Apex Talon, but his destination.

He took a step forward.

"KAMINARI!!! KAMINARI, WAIT!!!"

Oh, crap.

Kaminari turned around to see him running up the hill, his straight black hair flowing out behind him, and his unusually, almost magically, straight teeth smiling up at him.

He had something with him. A bag? Was he leaving too? Not only that, but he was wearing similar armor to Kaminari, boots made for long distance traveling, and had his enchanted kusarigama at his side- oh no.

"Hey, what's up man?", he panted, Kaminari vaguely realized that he must have sprinted all the way from his house on the other side of the village to catch up with him,"Is...is it today?"

"Sero, go home", Kaminari said quietly,"Dude, I can't have you like, dying on me or whatever."

"I can't have you dying on me", Sero objected, crossing his arms in annoyance,"I told you the day you said,'I must avenge him, Sero. I'm going to the Apex Talon.' that I was coming with you. You're my best friend. I can't let you go alone. I like, love you, man."

"Yeah, I love you too", Kaminari muttered,"But no homo."

"No homo."

"I don't want you coming with me", Kaminari objected one last time,"This is a me thing. You don't have to come with. I'll be fine."

"Against the King of Dragons? I doubt it.", Sero scoffed, then pausing and looking down at his feet,"And in case you forgot, I got beef with the King of Dragons too."

Kaminari froze. He had completely forgotten that Sero's father had died fighting a dragon alone when Sero was young. He had saved the village, but it had cost him his life, and honestly, most of Sero's happiness.

"Fine.", Kaminari finally gave in. Having Sero travel beside him was better than having Sero decide to travel alone. Plus, he was good company,"But if you die, I'm going to kill you."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Let's go fight some dragons, I guess."
